| Blatent obstructions need to be penalised and we have always had a rule for this. The current use of it however is a complete embarresment to the game in general.
Simple option. Don't allow vid refs to judge on it. In fact, restrict vid refs to ball grounding and in touch decisions only. The rest should be down to the officials on the field.

| It is beyond a joke these days, every club has had their share of these but Rovers need to stop this victim mentallity that's running through that club as it's becoming embarrassing now, to hear the East stand booing and barracking officials on their warm up was before they had even kicked off was cringeworthy to say the least.

| I still think Video Ref decisions should be similar to the NFL. The referee on the field makes a decision and asks the Video ref to check, and the decision can only be overturned with unquestionable evidence.
No benefit of doubt, no refs sending the decision upstairs to avoid making their own decision, hopefully fewer crazy calls.

Agree, Video Ref's should be used to clarify what the on field ref thinks, or turned donw if it is quite clearly the wrong decision, not to look for reasons to disallow them.

| One thing about the disallowed 'obstruction' try last night was apparently the ref didn't ask them to check for that just the grounding. Now I understand if they spot something straight forward like a knock on in the play that the ref didn't inquire about that they should use that, but for a iffy obstruction was daft.
It was never an obstruction (neither was Broughton's vs Leeds the other week) but I think the right decision was reached in the end as I don't reckon Hodgson grounded it, he looked pretty sheepish getting up. So no try was correct, just for the wrong reason.
What I don't get is how they can be so harsh on the obstruction calls then so generous with things like the knock-on between Welham and Wardle.

| There seem to be fewer bad and/or questionable decisions during those games I watch when no VR is present. If my experience is widespread within the game's fan base then the solution is obvious. Then again, it might just be my bias as I'd much prefer the VR concept to be scrapped altogether.

It's easy to sit and post that when you are not witnessing it week after week.
It's not even what you would deem "big" decisions that bother me anymore it's the downright cheating decisions for instance the last two games off the top of my head, Roby giving Gardner in touch last night when he is in a perfect position (there's a photo doing the round) to see he is nowhere near and the previous week Hicks giving a phantom knock on against Greg Eden (who as you well know needs no help in the errors category)
No excuses for getting simple decisions such as those so blindingly wrong. Fair enough if it's a 4 man tackle and the ball comes out then it's normally a lottery as to the decision they give.

Frustratingly poor refereeing yes, but both understandable human errors really when viewed at full speed.
Hardly downright cheating.

| I know there is a lot of moaning about refs, Wakey fans are guiltier than most but reffing a game of RL is a tough job for anyone, professional or no. The game is so fast these days, it can take a fraction of a second for someone to say, knock the ball out in a tackle or the ball to go to ground and be picked up again.
It's a thankless task and I for one am not surprised we are short of refs, it must be one of the most thankless jobs in the world.

| Every team suffers bad officiating every team gets decisions against them, yes we all moan about the injustice of it, but every team gets decisions go for them in games. Last night was no different, hull KR scored 2 tries that on another day possibly wouldn't have been given, to say its cheating is just sour grapes, our fans were the same after the saints cup game.
I'm pretty sure I could name dozens of decisions that have gone against the giants this year, some that cost us games. But then I could point to decisions that have helped us
Cheating?? No. Poor officiating at times? definitely

That just moves the argument on to what is unquestionable evidence. Im not sure why we would want to go with a decision that the on field ref isnt sure is right, the video ref doesnt think is right but the evidence is only pretty good and not unquestionable.

| I don't think the video ref is the problem. It's the interpretation of the rule that is. To hide this from the video ref is bypassing the main issue.
Sort the rule out.

| I have no problems at all with obstruction being the sole responsibility of the referee. BUT Sky would then show the decision 12 times, and if there was the slightest doubt there would be a 4 page thread on here calling for all referees to be summarily executed.

| The problem is they are constantly looking for reasons to disallow tries.
Look how they took it upon themselves to disallow that try for obstruction when they weren't even asked to check for it.
They're power mad, it's like they get a kick out of disallowing tries. When a try goes to the video ref it's like they think ''right, so what can we look for to chalk this one off. Go in super zoom on the grounding, 1000th of a frame at a time. I think there's a milimeter of daylight between hand and ball there.
....NO TRY!''
Just f*ck off! Is what I think.
We have dumb and dumber struggling to work the kit and giving these ridiculous decisions.
I'm the dreading the playoff and the grand final because I know these clowns are going to f*ck the whole thing up by going to the VR at every opportunity, over analysing stuff and then creating needless controversy.
Well done clowns you're ruining the game.

The sky coverage focuses far too much on refereeing decisions. In the nrl they call it, and move on. Eddie and stevo constantly dwell on it and second guess every decision.
Eddie and stevo are destroying the game.
Everything would run alot smoother if the refs could just ref and the commentators would just call the game and not evaluate the ref.
It causes problems when everytime the ref gives a knock on, he has stevo and eddie in the commentary box wagging their fingers because they watched 10 replays and ''there was a slight fingertip in there''.

| Ref cam has only added to the sky commentary scraping the bottom of the barrel. What a useless no need for thing that was to put in place. Now if anyone questions the ref it is now disrespectful, and needs dealing with, regardless of how they approach it.
As for video ref and obstruction. Keep it with them, just make the rule what they are looking at, with a change that says if defender not touched it is fine, or if play five yards or more from the defence line, it is ok.
Also get rid of the referees doing video ref duty, not needed. Use ex players and coaches for it.

They were going to the ref cam a bit to show the Saints players interactions with him and they were also going on about HKR players the night before complaining to the ref. They were making it sound like players have never previously complained to ref's.......I think 'players talking to the refs' is going to be the Sky teams next 'area of repeated target'. You can always tell when they start saying "we saw this happening last night/week" and they did that on Friday with the references to HKR, they seemed hell bent on making an issue out of it.

| So ask the refs on twitter have admitted that our try should have stood. This is the second time this season where a controversial vid decision seriously HAS cost us the game. And people wonder why Rovers supporters think all officials are complete clowns. In the end the bounce of the ball also undid us bit how oong have ALL clubs got to stand this nonsense that have now potentially cost us 4 championship points.
