| Given what hull kr have managed to do with craven park since entering SL can't help but think cas and wakey would have been better renovating their grounds than trying to get spangly new stadiums.

| Ouch. That could severely hurt their income. They averaging around 8k last year. Hope things get sorted quickly!

Definately. You just come out the other side of financials and this happens. As you say really healthy crowds last year so I'm confused that the quote in the article suggests 5k would be enough for the first few home games of Bulls, Catalan and Saints.

| All down to Kath Hetherington. She cancelled all repair contracts, waited for the H&S inspection and Caddick came in and quoted double.

| Official attendances were IMO on the generous side last year, see the final Cas home match for a more accurate reflection to the true crowd average. I reckon at best Trinity could’ve hoped for a 6K average this year.
As long as its sorted by Good Friday the impact other then the repair costs will be minimal.

In fairness, we've been to the alter twice with new stadium developments and the move to a new ground at Newmarket is still on the cards, so there seems little point in spending on the old ground.
That said, it does still need to be safe and I don't think that the capacity will be at this level for the long term.

It's a weird one as no stands are actually fully closed. The limit is on the max number of spectators allowed into the stadium. I haven't been in since September so I don't know the actual state but it cant be massively different to last year. Perhaps because the whole place is antiquated its much harder to spot issues as everthing looks bad.

I have long been arguing that Belle Vue was a dangerous place, ever since I tried to use the men's "toilets" there.
France would never tolerate such an awful place. If it had been located in France, its owners/administrators would have been prosecuted long ago for maintaining such a shameful facility. Belle Vue is a Dickensian blight on the British ambition to be considered a modern nation.

So you're saying French H&S officials are more anal tham their British counterparts?

| They must be fairly significant issues considering they are doubtful it can be sorted by mid-April, and asking for "all hands on deck".
You could pretty much build a new stand in those timescales, so doubtful that it is just stuff like safety barriers. Sounds like fairly fundamental improvements to the entire stadium to me.

There are the same number of barriers that there were under last years safety certificate. If I had to guess I would say the concrete terracing may be unsafe/in need of repair.

It's ok KK, he's never actually been to France, a country where they pick and choose their EU regulations and their H & S is certainly no more stringent than the UK.

| Belle Vue seems much like the situation that Knowsley Road was at the end of our time there. Throwing money at it but making it no better than it was before. Wakey was always a "yeah i've been there but im not going again" type of ground.
It's a shame to see capacity pretty much halved but thems the rules!
