| 1,441. Is that a satisfactory attendance at a home game for the only rugby league club in the biggest city in the UK?
What kind of extra advertising was done for this match, given its relocation to Adams Park, by the Zimbabwean cricketer turned CEO Gus McKay?
How many of those attending were Bradford fans?
Isn't it time that London Broncos owner David Hughes fired those members of his administrative staff, be they English or Zimbabwean, who aren't performing at a professional level worthy of Super League?

Are you suggesting that rugby league is dead in Britain?
And why do you need to use foul language? Leave that to the rugby union and football fans.

| No, i dont believe rl will ever die in Britain.
There will always be 5 or 6 clubs doing the business and another 5 or 6 clubs tiring themselves out just trying to keep up.
Then more importantly we've still got plenty strong and vibrant amateur clubs to go watch

Maybe so. And every man & his dog knows the reason is that the Cas fans aren't bothered about the league games. They know all they have to do is win a couple of games, scrape into the top 8, then they can go on and win the Grand Final and be Champions.

I agree, the SL structure is broken. Perhaps the Cas fans interest in SL could be reinvigorated by the reintroduction of P&R which would provide them with meaningful fixtures again?

Agreed. Cas's season is now over, do the RFL really think fans are going to turn up to watch what are nothing more than friendlies?
The sport currently has no direction, are we still doing licensing (which is a farce) or is SL a 100 % closed shop. Massive changes aren't needed. Just bring back P&R and reduce play-offs to 6.
The license system has set the sport back.

| Totally agree.
12 teams, P+R, 5 team playoffs. Sorry, but it just has to go back that way, there have got to be ways of the relegated team being looked after and the promoted team given a chance, staggered seasons so the promoted team get a month extra to prepare for SL for a start would help.

| The gap between the SL and the Championship is too wide to bridge now, they really have stuffed it up , I really dont know the answer, and unfortunatly neither do the RFL

I'd go with a return to P&R but give the promoted team an exemption from relegation in their first year. A 2 year stay in SL gives the promoted club a chance to sign decent players on 2 year deals and not just the has-been's after a 1 year pension. Gives the best of both the licence and P&R systems, and it worked well for Catalan, who went from strength to strength after their difficult first year.

Are Cas and London sustainable?
Its the gap between the Championship and SL sustainability, and as has been pointed out on various threads about HKR , even with 7,000 averages you still struggle
With RL prmarily a northern sport , and the reccession biting harder in the north , something has to give, even the big clubs will be posting significant losses this year
Big problems ahead

No a team would still be promoted each year, it'd just be that the promoted team has an exemption from going down in year 1. So for example last year Widnes finished bottom but would have been exempt, so Cas would have gone down instead.

If last years promoted team finishes bottom yes. Not 'fair' but if the teams know before the season starts they know what they need to do to stay up. It takes away the P&R issue of the promoted team just going straight back down and having to lay all the players and staff off and start again.
Widnes for example got better as the season went on last year, and are showing significant improvement this year with big names like Hock in the team...under a P&R system they'd be back in the Championship trying to re-group with a new set of players.

Not fair as you say, but in the same way as 5th place winning the GF - everyone knows the rules at the start of the season.

| What about strategic teams?
So ,
Promoted team finishes bottom, a London team directly above them, a French team next best.
At what point does it start to get silly?
