Just heard on 5live that Sean Long has announced his retirement with immediate effect and will announce a coaching role tmorrow.

My thoughts entirely. He certainly had the ability to cut it against the Aussie's and Kiwi's, but rarely did.

The problem with Longy,s international career was not helped with the way he was not allowed to play his natural game (Noble). The test match match were we beat the aussies his club partner was Leon Pryce was stand off and he more or less played something like his normal game.
The test game before and after that game I think Pryce was stuck out on the wing and Noble brought in that Playmaker McQuire as his stand off, result was longy became less involved and his natural game was restricted, result...lost both games.

Yes we lost both the other games because of Pryce not partnering Long. Not. We lost the other games because the whole team was dire.

the only difference between the games was that Pryce played stand off in one of them, and was stuck on the wing for the others.
