| The interesting thing about the Eels is that they still seem to have this policy of going after every player who is off contract. They love turning over their players. If you look back over the years you will find that the Eels have the biggest tun over of players almost every year. And Souths are probably second. Some clubs have big clean outs every now and then but the Eels have almost always had the longest list of gains and losses at the start of every year. The story in the DT about them losing out on Sandow and others while not even offering Reddy a new deal yet seems to bear out their MO of losing their own players in favour of chasing new ones - which in recent times they are missing out on anyway.

| call me old fashioned, but as much as stats can be manipulated, I reckon the best way to find the worst side in the NRL currently is to look at the table.
The Eels have a terrible points difference, but they are 2 wins aheasd of the worst team in the comp.........

| Exactly. Our season is OVER. Roosters, Panthers and Sharks are one loss this weekend away from being game over. The rest can still make the 8.
We'll battle it out with the Sharks for the spoon.

| Amazes me that the clubs with the biggest Jnr catchments are the ones that consistently do poorly and seek to sign players from here there and everywhere (ala Sth's, Penrith and Parra)

I wouldn't really put Penriff in that boat. They generally give a lot of Penriff juniors a go. But there certainly aren't many Parra juniors in first grade at the Eels these days. The thing about Sydney clubs giving local juniors a run is that Sydney doesn't really produce that many players anymore. I can't remember the figures but one of the papers had a breakdown of where every NRL player was from and Sydney's numbers were below Qld, Country NSW and even NZ from memory. And that imbalance is only becoming greater.

as SOO would point to.
There are too many Sydney clubs in the comp...I would add the Reds and B2 in 2013 and then do what ESL are doing, in making the teams apply for 5 year licences from 2017 with applications encouraged from groups outside the comp. Penrith and the Sharks don't get the crowds, the roosters need to buck up their ideas. The Growth of the game requires the clubs to do their bit......and clubs like Penrith are not currently doing this with massive losses over 24 months and currently, the lowest crowd average in the comp.
Cronulla have had to take their HOME games against the Warriors to NZ to get decent crowds......hardly the behaviour of a confident and forward thinking outfit either.

| Parra have problems. They seek a band-aid fix in hiring old has beens instead of looking to the future in youngsters. In short, they are the ESL of the NRL.
Even as a sydney sider, I am warming to the idea of Adelaide Panthers and/or Central QLD sharks.

Would it work? Are there 20,000 RL fans there? If so, get 'em in and get the promotion/marketing going....them and the Reds in for 2013 and watch the TV money grow. 5 state game......1 billion dollars, 4 state game, 800 million, 3 state game, 700 million...IMO that is

| I didn't exactly mean that in a literal sense. Relocating struggling Sydney teams seems like the better idea. Swans managed to do it, and after 10 hard years they have had success.
Perhaps it should be Wellington Panthers

No they are not...they have a terrible for/against record, but they are 2 wins ahead of the worst team in the league.

| They are the worst team in the League, give it a few weeks and you'll see how bad once Canberra finally starts playing.
Soft defense and zero attack.
