Its pretty obvious that most players at champ/1 level come from the amateur game.
My question is,how many English players who currently ply there trade in SL were spotted at school, nurtured by the SL through school,then nurtured by the SL club through the amature game and finally making it at the pro game.?

Jc , the vast majority of pro RL players will have played for an amatuer club , many SL juniors will have been ' advised ' to play for a particular amatuer club by whatever club scholarship they get picked by

My grandad never played for an amateur club and was picked up by Leeds but that was in the 50's and he was pretty good. No-a-days school rugby league isn't that good and fixtures aren't played regularly enough. Intake in Leeds normally have a decent team though because half play for Milford and the other half play for Stanningley with a few Rodley players thrown in.

Pretty sure now a days most players follow this route:

school or amateur club to 15, scholarship with a SL club and U16's of that club, academy, reserves, first grade. i would be surprised if there are many 1st grade players that didnlt come through teh clubs own jnrs rather than joing as a 18-20 year old from an amateur club.
