Why did he run backwards 25 metres.

Hooter sounded so instead of running it out he turned around and scored under his own sticks from about 25 metres out.

They should have thrown pies at him while he was on the deck.

Last time I saw a player do that was Shaun Edwards in 1992.

Did they give it as a try or just call time?

Nothing about "own" tries on there. Would be a drop-out for grounding in his own in-goal area

There's no such thing as an 'own try', it would be a drop out. Players ground the ball in their own in goal virtually every game

I'd like to see someone kick an "own drop goal" in that situation!

I think Widnes had a goal line drop out at Dewsbury this season that was blown back by the wind over their own dead ball line. Not sure if it went between the posts though.

Was that a penalty for not going the 10m then?

If it crossed the 10 metre line then was blown back it would be a valid kick.

Could be a penalty on halfway against the team doing the dropout for putting a kick out on the full from a restart.

A penalty for a goal-line dropout going out on the full is on the centre of the 10m line. A 20m dropout going out on the full is a penalty on the centre of the 20m line.
