| Terrible effort really....especially as the game was being played at one of the nicest grounds in the UK at a place where RL is so popular.
How many turned up?
I was going to go to Paris next week to watch Australia v France....mainly for a weekend on the booze.
However I have been given tickets through my work for the Wallabies v England game at Twickenham next weekend so I will be giving France a miss.
How can an event like that attract 82,000 where as the England v Australia footy at Wigan got such a poor crowd?

| There was only 1,800 less than there was at Aussie Stadium for Aus v GB in 2006.
Why so many empty seats that day?

| There was only one block in the west stand that was deserted. I thought it was a pretty good attendance.
I think next week your comments will stand up more

Quite ironic that your complaining about attendances in rugby league, but you've decided to off to Twickers instead.

| Going to watch Sterling Mortlock instead of Greg Inglis!
Yeh Right"!
Ball in play 25 mins out of eighty instead of 65 out of eighty.
Enjoy!

| as I said in another thread, im not sure that the RFL's ticket 'bands' really help matters
here's next weeks layout for the Galpharm
[urlhttp://www.superleague.co.uk/~therflc/uploads/imagesource.php?image=4590.jpg&maxwidth=349&maxheight=349[/url
is the view in the Pink seats really worth the £20 markup over the red seats? IMO no and I'm guessing these will be the empty ones on saturday. As far as i'm aware they aren't even padded or anything either.
I just don't think that people are bothering to pay the extra for seats in grounds which have good views from any seat (such as the DW, KC etc) which showed yesterday with the ends being full but gaps down the sides.

Not good is it.
I'm not really a big union fan either.
I just can't be bothered to go Paris ....and the Wallabies tickets were complimentary.
Sorry for my double standards

23,122, a good attendance IMO.
The capacity of the stadium is 25,138 but that has been reduced (so I've been told) to 24K due to safety reasons.

Only when seats are sold on an unallocated basis, at Super League level.

where have the extra 15,000 gone?

| £20 for the sides and £15 behind the posts and it would sell out and look a hell of a lot better on tv. maybe instead of playing games in small stadiums so they look more full the rfl should try charging less in decent sized stadiums.
people don't want to pay 40quid to watch international matches, despite what people say it clearly isnt the pinnacle of the game to most people

I went to the COM stadium amongst others but I think then we had a belief that with home advantage and a strong wind behind us we could actually win, them days are long gone I'm afraid.

Seeing as it was played in a 25000 seat stadium I would hazard a guess most of them were stood outside

Yeah, we were brimming with confidence after that depressing 3-0 defeat in the 2003 Ashes series. Darren Smith even turned out in the 3rd test of that series.

HOw the hell is that good? In 1995 we had 66k watch Andrew Johns rip us apart at Wembley. Maybe that is the key? Move to London and make it a 'big' occasion?

I'd have played it at the City of Manchester Stadium, made the tickets a maximum of 25 quid and advertised it to the hilt on radio, tv, in papers and on billboards all around the north west.
We'd have easily got at least 35,000 if that had been the case imo.

Move it to a big stadium.
Old Trafford
City of Manchester
Anfield
Wembley
Cheap tickets. Market the hell out of it. Make it as big an occasion as the CC or GF. Come on RFL show some ambition!

Do you really think the football clubs would be happy for there to be 26 big blokes 'ripping up their pitch' a day or two before/after their precious superstars will be on it?
