I'd be interested to know who here has actually played Rugby League to a half decent level???

But out of interest has anyone who posts here ever been half decent? Maybe you once had a trial for a big named club? Maybe you actually play for a superleague club?

Define decent?

i played for featherstone rovers acadamy and second team has a 17 and18 year old,fev at the time were a mid table top flight team with players such has derick fox,brendan tuuta and paul newlove in the team which was great has everybody trained together pre season and most of the week.at first it was daunting training with international players but i knew martin pearson from my junior club who took me under his wing.for one reason or another things never worked out and despite offers from hudds and doncaster i walked away from the game which i regret very much.

Depends what you mean by high level?

Doesnt have to be State of Origin level



Hard to define 'decent' as one persons definition of 'decent' will be different to someone elses.

So I'm afraid you lose all your kudos.

At 16 I had option of Warrington, widnes and Bradford. I went to the 3 clubs and signed for widnes for £1000.

I played 3 games for reserves and broke my arm. I was out injured for 10 weeks before broke same arm and was released.

6 months later I was at Leigh. I played a season and had Warrington again looking at me until I broke my ankle in 1st game 2nd season.

I now play for my local team. If it wasn't for injuries.....

Right well I played for Leigh untill they dropped the academy thing and I was shifted off to wire.

No really, I was an amateur RL player but was much better at swimming and was top class at that. When I was younger I was really good at all sports but swimming was the main one. I played rugby for one of the top schools in the country but I dislocated my left knee three times and my right one twice so my whole sporting career was shattered. I could of also been a table tennis player but gave it up also because of my knees.

I now play snooker.

Sounds like injuries did you no favours though

it was hard to take at the time of all the injuries. Worst thing for me though is I played from age of 6 and I'm still playing now and they are only real injuries i've ever had which cost me.

I felt really let down by widnes as I turned down 2 big clubs to go there. They really sold the club to me and my dad. They told me I was a player the club would build the next great widnes around!

2 broken arms later they fooked me off!!!!

Im pretty sure they say that to every young player.

Injuries are a killer as I had a similar experience if you look on the last page.

I'm 30 now mate. The arms and ankle have never been a problem since.

up and coming stand off with saints colts before tearing my cruciate ligament then left with a limp for the rest of my life.

I played for a club called De La Salle Caringbah.

Beer, women and parties soon made me lose interest

Played a bit at u17 and u19 level at Northern..Was Franny Jarvis and Dean Raisticks prop at times when they played there. It was bloody hard in them days (as it will be now) Had a chance to go to Bramley but I was messing about with the chairmans daughter at the time and he didn't like me.

Hurt my back at Hull and suddenly my enthusiasm for playing the game diminshed rapidly as I was off work for over 6 months..Played Amateur for many years, but never with the same go about myself. Liked the Beer and Girls too much

Still got my Losers medal when we lost to Cas. u17's in Final though..Proud of that....
