| Sam Tomkins will get it, and probably rightly so, James Roby would be close for me though.

If Tomkins isn't winning games for his side then I couldn't name a player that is. Roby is supreme, a machine and without him you guys would be in a hole but he doesn't come up with those moments that take your breath away and decide the big games. He grafts himself into the ground and will always keep you in with a shout but he can't take a defence apart like Sam Tomkins can.
If we want an example of the difference between the 2 then look at the first 30 mins of the challenge cup Semi. We had no ball to play with and Saints were camped in our half yet came away with only 2 points. If the roles were reversed in that situation and Sam had that amount of time in your half do you think we'd have come away with 2 points? Not a chance as proved in the 2nd half when he scored a try and had another chalked off. He makes things happen and wins his side big matches.
I think the pair of them are world class but Sam's form has gone through the roof in the last 4 months.

| Tomkins is already the best player in SL.
He is still learning and developing.
His potential is terrifying to the rest of SL.
Wigan fans are enjoying seeing a player come through the ranks who has the potential to be very, very special even in the history of the greatest club in the game.
He is already one of the greats of the modern era. The only question is whether he goes on to rival or even surpass Hanley as one of the all time greats of world RL or merely peaks at his current level, which is beyond any other player in SL.
Tomkins - already a legend

Exactly my point. Running in spectacular tries (That Brimah Kebbie would have scored) against no hopers is easy and should not be rewarded with the Man of Steel award.

But he looked good in an average team under noble in his first season, in fact the lad managed to get into the england team after being in the reserves for half the season! He is an exceptional talent an exceptional player and at this moment in time the best in the world!

I would take your point if he only did it against poor teams, I really would.
He has scored brilliant tries against Warrington, Saints, Hudds, Leeds and Catalans this year as well.
You are a bitter man.
Anyone who didn't think Tomkins was MOS will probably have changed their mind after tonight, the boy is a freak.
The best young british player in the super league era.
It's only his second full season

Agreed. He is such a dirty player. I like that as part of his game. A joy to watch. A true cheat of RL.

| Roby is good but it has been close to impossible (barring St George) to defend against Sam T this season. The lad will need to go to the Nrl in the next season or 2 because it is becoming too easy for him in SL against our defences.

He's still a way to go on his current contract, which I'm glad about but in a way I hope he does play a season or 3 in Aus. He'd be a sensation down there.

| Wonder how the superleague players see it:
Roby (Man of Steel) top tackler and top metre maker who plays with a broken jaw, broken eye socket and a broken hand.
Tomkins (Man of Steal) top try scorer, top clean breaks, who plays by pretending to be injured and cheats against his fellow players.
For me Man of Steel is not a match winner, but is an individual with good seasonal form who shows great sportsmaship against his fellow players and is a good example to the code.

*sigh* Kindly point out the a few of these events of play-acting and cheating from, say, that last 10 games? I ask all you idiots who spout this stuff and it's very rare any can come back with anything.
Bear in mind, if Sam is a prolific injury-faker and cheat, you should easily find several examples. I await your list with interest.
Anyway, MoS won't be Ryan McGoldrick. Dirty prick.

Have you only been watching the last 10 games of the season, Man of Steel is judged over the whole season. Tomkins has cleaned up his act the last couple of games, even Ben Thaler made a laugh and joke about it on Friday night when Sam " went down".
For me Man of Steel is someone who has total respect from his fellow players, Menzies, Roby, Carmont being typical examples

Try watching that incident again. Sam is taken high (for me, over the shoulder) but is taken hard so of course he goes down. But then he springs back up and carries on running, only to have his legs wrapped up. At no point does he milk it. Go on, watch it again.
I gave you 10 games not as a reference to MoS but to allow you a fairly large selection if matches for you to pick your alleged incidents of play-acting and cheating from. 800 minutes, in fact. But you cab only come back with one non-incident from Friday.
Admit it, you simply listen to the hype without knowing what you're talking about.

| Should be Rangi, instrumental in a Cas side and clearly a class above many of his peers. Tomkins is fantastic but I do feel that he's come into form at the right end of the season to grab the attention.

Sam is just after a Snickers advert with Mr T. "Quit your jibber jabber, stop acting like a crazy fool, you ain't hurt. Huurgghhh, get some nuts".
It will be interesting to see if Sam applies the same sort of 'do anything to gain an advantage' approach when it comes to playing Australia.
