He may accept a couple of months less money just to get going but as he's played a game and a minute he still counts on the cap. But his departure would free up a quota place and we had spare cap anyway.

Stats can be misleading but these are Knights from last years nsw cup.
Plays decent minutes. averages 144m per game but pretty sure these are calculated a little differently over here,
So it would be slightly less on the SL sits. Likes an offload

Just seen that Jebson played for our reserves on Friday night in a hammering at Leeds. Looks like he’s fallen behind Kirby in the pecking order.

| It’s so disappointing that
Cobie Wainhouse has failed to deliver on his potential
He was almost first team under Smith and now hasn’t even a squad number I believe
For me Ligi has played his last game for Hull - shame for him as he would certainly not have wanted this as his final game - best of luck to him in his future and Thanks for all his efforts

| Knight is a good player, like been mentioned he has had injury problems though. I'm still not sure that I would have used the quota spot on a prop though, I'd have been looking at a domestic prop and use the quota on our weaker areas.
Hope the deal is only to the end of the year, if not that's our last quota spot gone and I would prefer to to be used on a halfback or .
Id be looking at bringing Satae back next year, think Cartwright and the team would get him fit and playing well.
I still also hope we are looking at Lam, get that offer back on the table, as he is OOC at the end of the year.

| Stay away from Satae hopefully even though he’ll be off quota. Rarely works out second time around and he’ll be 33 himself later this year. Let’s move on.

| [quote="DSJ1983":2bgflapc]It looks like he was in and around the Manly first grade setup as a youngster when Carty was there as he made a first grade appearance in 2016. Every overseas player we’ve signed has followed that pattern so could be something in it.[/quote:2bgflapc]
Whilst I can see the logic in all our overseas signings having worked with Cartwright at some point so he knows what they're like, is it not a risk that by not casting our net wider, we're missing out on potential better players that he hasn't worked with?

| Id still take Satae for a year if he is off quota, can't imagine us signing a better non quota prop.
Agree with Steve, I'm sure Cartwright and Myler will, buy its a tough job getting people here, so have to use the connections. Hopefully long term we are more attractive and have more options.

Yeah, he obviously wants people he trusts to get us back on track short term and who he knows will fit in with what he wants with effort in training etc but eventually you’ll think we’ll have to cast the net wider.
That’s assuming the Liam Knight thing is true anyway, and even if it is it the Cartwright link could just be a coincidence, it’s a pretty tenuous link as he was only 20 and made only 1 appearance for Manly.
It is interesting though, it’s the first thing to look for when we are linked with an overseas based player and there is a link there.

He’s 33 and injury prone ! We must learn from
Hardaker - Asiata and the rest
Over 30s is a very big risk and it’s playing out

| So Liam Knight... who else we reckon?? Cap space is there we already know that so looking at Centre and 2nd row as per DT article yesterday who else could we look to get realistically? Obviously Non quota so would think either someone at a top championship club or someone not getting minutes at a SL club.

Sam Royle, Luis Johnson and Harvey Livett all second rowers still without a club. '
Royle seems a really good professional who captained Saints Scholarship, academy and reserves.
Just seen that Holmes is having a knee clear out so hopefully we can get someone in quickly.

Injury prone, at least do your research?
Satae has played 27, 28 and 26 ganes the last 3 years.
If anyone can name a better off quota prop tha Satae would could sign next year I'll be suprised.

| Still think it's a big error to use our last quota spot for this year and potentially next on a prop, even now we have 5 fit props and a couple of back ups, but only one fit backrower and centre.

| I think the difficulty is that because of the injury situation that's already mounted up, the club now doesn't have much of a choice. They have to recruit despite wanting to hold their nerve until later in the season. And given that we are only two games in, options aren't necessarily there as to who is available and we're still in a similar position to where we were last year in terms of attracting players. The club has done a great job of changing perceptions off the field IMO that will hopefully encourage people to sign for us but we've still got work to do on the field. The Catalans result was a great advertisement for us moving forward but the Wigan result was obviously a setback.
So signings aren't going to be ideal or necessarily better quality than we already have. We may find ourselves still taking risks on injury statuses and having to dish out some long term contracts that we ideally wouldn't want to be doing. But if it's the difference between getting some bodies in or not, we've got to do it.
Given that injuries are already mounting up, do the club still need to be addressing further changes behind the scenes?

I like the Royle option I must admit, I mean yeah obviously we would want a hard hitting, tackle busting 2nd rower (Willie Manu syle) but very few and far between of those so yeah Royle or Livett for me good options. Johnson doesn't interest me at all. Centre wise do you think we could make a play even just short term for either Connor Wrench or Zak Eckersley?

Wrench is injured and Eckersley is right on the fringe of first team, do doubt they let him go.
I'd bring in Eseh on loan, short term deal fir Livitt or Royle and an overseas centre.
Possible look at Perham we looked at him before, hadn't made the Broncos top 30, can play any position in the backs and has real speed about him.

He scored a good try other week, looks really fit to be fair. We’d soon sort that out

| Only quota prop I'd take would be Amone, as he would make a huge difference, can't see the Bulldogs letting him go before the season has even started.

He's played 2nd row and loose forward in Canberra. Cant see him coming to us but if we throw enough money at him and his gametime reduces in NRL then who knows
