Bang on mate.
It was a good game with some superb rugby, until an hour it was anybody's game.
Hodgeson was a great call for Lance Todd Trophy after getting up from that smashing to set up 2 tries and score on himself. Think Jamie Peacock might have run him close though, he was amazing yesterday.
Ref's make calls, they're human and make mistakes, live with it.
Warrington were the better side, well done to them.

yeh, I really enjoyed the game and the spectacle - thought the game changed just before half time when Sinfield elected to kick when his team had the iniative and should have gone for the six pointer, seemed a negative move from a motivated team at the time
Not sure about BH as MOM - thought Waterhouse and Carvell were immense
reffing errors ? well, compared to Child last week at the GB Mr Silverwood was faultless and Leeds couldn't manage to win that one either !
Well played Wires

| Quote ="Chris Dalton"We've all had bad decisions go against us but the sad fact is the reason Leeds lost was not because of a phantom notion of losing "momentum" by decisions that the BBC commentators were trying to put across. It's because their second half performance was gutless and because of players like Ryan Bailey killing any momentum they managed to gather by giving away stupid penalties.
They showed no drive and were bossed around the field by a superior team and even when they woke up late on when it was too late who was there to give away a stupid penalty to kill any idea of a fight back? Bailey. The man's a liability and if Leeds are feeling frustrated it should be with their own players not the referee, who I felt didn't get too much wrong on the day. Completely agreed with the disallowed try, and as for Briers, it happens. You don't have to give away soft tries when it does.'"

| From a neutrals point of view, the Delaney try being disallowed I thought was a fair call. Hodgson loses control of the ball and then it is propelled forward by KL's hand. Scrum Leeds.
The Briers knock on was an awful call.
I think a few Leeds fans have forgotten about the number of soft penalties they were given in the first 15 minutes and didnt take advantage. Also why does sinfield take 2 shots at goal? Doesn't that go against the Leeds ethos of recent years?

Good call, referee!
Also, Leuluai CLEARLY knocks the ball on after Hodgson releases it. Clear as day.
The main reason RL lacks credibility is because of fans that make doomsday calls every time their team gets a call against them and blame the RFL for everything that is wrong with the world. The sooner they shut up, the better.

| Think the O/P is a little over the top in "i'm ashamed to be a rugby league fan"
I think the calls were harsh on Leeds and IMO incorrect, but thats not a reason to be ashamed to be an RL fan.
Now i could understand if it was on par with Unions bloodgate scandal or circkets spot fixing scandal to say your "ashamed to be a fan of RL"
Paul Cullen made a brilliant point on Boot n All, we a lot of people outside of the game who praise it, and a lot of people in the game who criticise it.

No I didn't. I also praised the refereeing standard, and called Leeds gutless. Both of which I stand by.
One single relatively short post on the matter by a neutral and you call me obsessed. Your knee jerked. You assumed that I was a bitter rival fan or that I had some long standing irrational problem against Bailey. Obsessed. Ridiculous.

Excellent and indisputable confirmation.
Sadly, though, the FACT that it did not go forward is of no interest to the sort of people on here, who probably don't believe Neil Armstrong ever set foot on the Moon, either. You're wasting your time. They WANT to feel the hard-done-by pain.

| For me the pivotal moment was Sinfield going for the 2nd penalty. I knew from that moment that Leeds didn't have the confidence to go and win it. Leeds needed to get out to a big start like they did against Wigan in the semi to have a chance of winning.
As for the refs, I've learned that they actually do a great job. They go out to be the best they can and sometimes make mistakes. However, having come home and watched a match on the telly and seen how often, me and the crowd have got it completely wrong I never call a ref.
Maybe we should have a thread next week criticising every mistake made by a team on sky??

It's different when your teams involved though, at the game sometimes you see a blatant knock on from the stand that when you rewatch is actually a ball steal that the officials have got spot on, but an identical one next time you go is still wrong.
But when neutrals are coming on here claiming this is the end of rugby league with two refereeing decisions that are correct then that is more damaging than anything else could be.

The briers "knock on" incident raises a question about those technical offences. I was under the impression that changing the direction of the flight of the ball in anything other than it's current direction or backwards from that direction was a knock on.
Now, if the incident which is being over analysed to the nth degree was not a knock on, then why do referees penalise the tackled ball carrier when they lose control of the ball and recover it whilst facing their own goal line.

The current laws of the game say a knock on is when the ball is knocked towards the opponents deadball line.

| I was at the match and have not seen it on TV. Can someone please explain for me what happened after the Leeds disallowed try? The video ref's decision was no try, scrum defence. But, as I recall Leeds won the scrum. Was that "against the head"? Did I miss the actual scrum and rejoin after another in the same position because I was trying to work out the decision? Did the ref give it the wrong way round? Or, did Warrington actually win it and I suffered from some sort of illusion?

Leeds got the scrum because they were the defending side at the time! Hodgson was carrying the ball in so Wire were the attacking side. He lost the ball in the tackle (first knock on) and Leuluai then flicked it away (second knock on) which Delaney picked up from an off side position. It wasn't a try becaue Delaney was off side and Leeds got the feed because Wire knocked on first.
