| [quote="tad rhino":3us7w98d]not sure he was the best striker and finisher but he is immensely talented.

I don’t see the real competition from anyone currently playing at Elland Road in the finishing stakes. If Geldhart had the 3 or 4 chances Piroe had on Wednesday night against Norwich at least one would have been nestling in the back of the net. Piroe was painfully slow with all those chances, we all know Joseph has not lived up to expectations and Bamford’s finishing over the last couple of years has been erratic and downright poor at times. Geldhart has better feet than all of them in the box and is more instinctive as a finisher. Like I said before though, he couldn’t do enough outside the box for Farke to ever get a sniff.

| I watched the Sheffield/Hull game and Joffy spent most of the time on the left cutting in.
I`m sure he would have done a job as a 10 if given the minutes.
Like Tad has said on here in the past Farke is stubborn and it was anyone of Piroe, Joseph and even the fast declining Bamford who would always get in ahead of Geldhart regardless of how bad they were playing.

Yeh that did cross my mind Tad and depending on how you look at it you could say they were both stubborn barstewards and wouldn`t budge.
Or he just wasn`t good enough hence why they didn`t select him.
The odd 10 minutes he was given he was underwhelming for sure.
Again was that down to the lack of minutes or he isn`t that good?

| Geldhart's issue at Leeds is/was that he's never fit the tactical systems of the managers we've had. He's not athletic enough to play as a lone 9, which also means he isn't that effective in a high press, and can't really be effective as a winger either.
He's a 2nd striker or wide 10 in a narrow tactical set up. There's not many managers who play those types of systems anymore.

Exactly. Gerd Muller scored 68: goals in only 62 games for West Germany but wouldn’t get anywhere near the team nowadays. Same for Toto Schilacci in Italy. Geldhart is a throwback to a good old fashioned centre forward who does all his best work in the box, but those type of players are now obsolete.

| Yes you`re probably right as Hull played him as a floating 10 playing out left and cutting in which suits the way they play.

I do wonder if in light of recent favourable results we are hoping to fudge it with Piroe and Joseph till the end of the season with possibly just a loan signing coming in when all the transfer activity has died down and we can see what’s left. We are in a real tricky position at the moment, we don’t have a decent striker at the club, but are we going to risk spending money on a temporary fix that ultimately wouldn’t be good enough if we make it to the promised land. We currently have Piroe that wouldn’t play in the PL, and unless Joseph’s career takes on a remarkable upward trajectory he wouldn’t feature either. Would we risk adding a third striker not fit for purpose just to get us over the line ? It’s looking more and more like a loan signing as back up rather than a de facto match winner that simply wouldn’t be available.

| piroe would be good off the bench in a premier league side but never a starter.
I could see him scoring a few off the bench

| Hull City now getting in on the act signing Louie Barry on loan.
Personally I think him and Buendia would have been great loan signings.
Trouble is Farke won`t guarantee they get many minutes which I`m sure must put the loaning clubs off.

| Good point away at a direct promotion rival. Extended the lead at the top.
Yep, need a better 9. Piroe isn’t effective in games like that. Too easy to defend

| You would not want to play Burnley in the play offs - if they scored game over. Their defence is so strong. Only having one shot on target doesn't help matters either.
Meslier still looks very shaky at times.

| Burnley could be the new Ipswich.
They were very lucky against Sunderland who outplayed them for much of the game similar to us to some extent.
I`ve seen them in another couple of games and thought they were nothing to write home about.
But with a defence that has only conceded 9 goals they`re doing something right.
Whereas Ipswich conceded for fun and whilst we waited for them to implode they got over the line which might be the case with Burnley who bore the opposition to death.

| I think we would all have taken a point beforehand. I think that’s why Farke went with Gruev and Tanaka. Having seen Burnley’s lack of ambition, I’m beginning to think it’s two points dropped tbh. Unfortunately for us Solomon didn’t work as an inverted winger last night, and as for Piroe…..no, no, and thrice no. He only has one goal in the last 6 games, constantly gives the ball away, doesn’t tackle, doesn’t win anything in the air…what on Earth is he doing on the field ? He is an absolute liability to the team. M.O.M for me was Rodon, defended well and was the only player from the centre of the field that was actually prepared to carry the ball forward into space and look to penetrate down the middle. Tanaka/Gruev will work when you’re happy to settle for a point but it’s not a combination when you’re looking to go at teams. Anyway, we’re two points clear at the top, let’s hope Farke has taken things from last night and can fine tune us for the run in.

| Not at our best last night, too many sloppy passes and giving the ball away too easy, especially in the first half, think Ampadu gave the ball away about 4 times.

Ampadu has been very sloppy with the ball since he's come back from injury, he still looks very rusty. He's making some great defensive tackles though but for me looks some way off what he was.
lets hope we get a good bit of business done this week.. Aaronson was ineffective again last night, teams who are good defensively eat him up for breakfast, especially when we're away.

| Yep, both Prioe and Joseph were poor. FOTMOB ratings have been really poor for Piroe and Aaronson in recent weeks (though i thought Aaronson was decent against Norwich to be fair). We definatley could do with a bit more firepower up top either at 10 or 9 (ideally both but can't see it)..
