| I am thinking they’ll be in the market for another player. Would be good to get a decent utility player. Imagine some of isa’s money would have gone on the faz deal maybe and the rest to strengthen others deals, maybe harvie hill

| Have mentioned this before but the 'four' year deal for Field was misreported by the press and possibly by Wigan themselves. Hence Field not appearing in any OOC lists. It was actually a 2 year deal with a 2 year option - report below.
WIGAN WARRIORS star is “not too sure” where his future lies beyond the 2025 Super League season.
The Australian speedster is out of contract at the end of the year, with Field lighting up the northern hemisphere since his move from the Parramatta Eels ahead oft he 2021 season.
Since then, the 27-year-old has registered 45 tries in 76 appearances and has formed a formidable partnership with fellow Aussie Bevan French.
However, with Field’s deal running out this year, he is unsure what is in store for him beyond that.
“I’m not too sure really – I’ve only got this year left and then we’ll see what happens after that but I’m open to anything,” Field told NRL.com.
“If something came up to go home you’d obviously think about it but… you’d be leaving here as well, which is a great club. You’ve got to weigh things up when the time comes, I guess.”

| I imagine he’ll be wanting a NRL contract. I think he’s bought a house over in Aus with his Mrs. Be good to keep him but won’t begrudge him leaving. Not sure who’d we have at FB? French or Eckersley maybe

| Pretty sure he’ll be staying, can’t see the NRL clambering for him given size and injuries.
Would be a personal decision if he’s happy to be a squad player.
Would solve the Farrimond problem. He’d slot into the halves with French at FB.
This group will stay together though I reckon.

French, with Eckersley at halfback.

I've said it before, Tomkins is the best fullback that I have seen at Wigan and I've been watching them for a long time. Had Danson been at Wigan he would not have gone to Catalans.

You mean Farrimond I presume.
There may be NRL interest in Field but you know there will also be some reservation around the physical side. Feels like almost all NRL backs are hybrid athletes these days with a mix of speed, skill and strength - there would likely be concerns that Field would get tossed around like a rag doll if he played full back. And we know he struggles defending in the line.

| He'd be fine IMO. Guys like Papenhuyzen, Kennedy, Bula, Kini etc are pretty slight guys. His issue will be if somebody needs a fullback or not and if their arrogance would allow them to look at an Aussie doing well in England and think he's worthy of decent money.
Wigan are in a good position regardless. A path will need to open up for Farrimond at some point, so they can be pretty relaxed about it. The time we lost both Field and French would be when it gets tricky, although it feels like Danson wouldn't hold back on a top replacement.

Danson has financial muscle and I am convinced that he will use it when necessary.

I don't have any doubt about that - I assume Field is already a marquee player. If so then in theory Danson could offer him whatever he wants without concern about the cap. It's a privileged position for the club to be in.

Your right, he can offer Jai more money if he wants or sign another marquee player.

Some of the responses to the sale of a reasonably good player for 3.5m quid this week were again embarrassing (and I support the football club). An element of the Latics fanbase are ungrateful beyond belief. In fairness though, I'd say a majority do understand the position.

Hopefully soon it will sink in when Latics gets to the end of a season and it isn’t all panic stations that the club might go under. I’m not a Latics fan but keep an eye on them. I’m not sure what any arguments you can have with the player leaving as he went to Luton didn’t he? A club that was in the prem last year. It does look like some money is being invested into Latics, few players signing. Hopefully you can get to the Championship as imagine this would generate decent money to be invested into both clubs. Although im not an Latics fan, I am interested in seeing what’s going to happen with the both clubs working together.

| I'm not a Latics fan but the day's are long gone that the town is turning blue and that we are rent boys (saints fans loved saying this but now that Liverpool Womens football team are telling St Helens RLFC to change the name of the Stadium and are bossing the club around it is very funny now that the shoe is on the other foot,so to speak) that it is a joy to watch the little team that is the Tics have a meltdown when the the far superior RL team is pulling the strings.
Reminds me of someone once wrote down "Turning blue my ar*e"
WIGAN is known as a Rugby town and always will be,not some very very good pub team as is Wigan Athletic.

Come on Jason you’ll have to do better than that. How are Liverpool women bossing us around when they pay to play there?
They call it the St Helens Stadium because they don’t want to be associated with a vaping company. No issues with that given the name hasn’t changed for rugby league and it is still OUR stadium that we own.
They pay a good fee to play there, we earn from food and drink and more importantly they paid over £1m for a state of the art pitch that we play on. It’s superb quality.
So if that’s “bossing” us around then that will do me.

| I think the only thing that will turn Jai's head back to the NRL is his family situation.
He's spoken before about the challenge of going back to a NRL club as the starting No1 especially to a club which is challenging for honours - pretty much all the top clubs have a very dominant FB in place and he would be going as an understudy. He's also a very trusted member of the squad and has a big input both on and off the field which is something he values highly.
Wigans accommodating and trusting stance on their overseas players and understanding of the importance of their family situation has really paid off in creating a reciprocal level of trust and buy into the club. It's worth far more than just the size of the pay check.

To be honest I dont need to "do any better than that" I just have to remember all the sh*t we copped from you lot and now we own our stadium and a football team (womens) is telling you to change the name of "your" stadium,as for the pitch it was re-laid for the Ladies team you just happen to play at the same stadium. I get that Liverpool pay rent but beware they are flexing their muscles to see how far they can go.
Oh and by the way you being one of the more levelled fans it is in no way having a dig at you mate.
Also we need a strong Saints team and club our greatest wins and losses have been against St Helens and I cannot wait for the next games against the 2 greatest teams in RL history with Wigan beeing number 1 and Saints number 2 of course.

Yeah it was Luton and for a rumoured £3.5m. They've brought in that fee now and a fee for Charlie Hughes higher than that and have said that they've ridden themselves of the last of the legacy from the Bahraini's and can move forward and have a higher budget next season. To me they've played it pretty much perfectly so far and stabilised the finances and the side, to then try and progress. Some of the empty heads aren't buying it though.
