Wow. Just when I think your argument can't get any dafter you deliver. No team will plan to win a game in the last minute. Does this mean any game that is won where the game hasn't gone exactly to plan is a fluke? I think lining up for that scrum Lee Smith would of been planning to win it in the last minute

I was stood right infront of the last try, it was JJB who was inciting the Wigan fans. Stood screaming in the faces of the young uns at the front with his arms out in a 'come on then' motion. Horrible house, shame nothing hit him.

Leeds never planned that piece of play full stop. It came about from a missed tackle which luckily gave Leeds the win.

You’ll be surprised to know that I was in company of Lee Smith Thursday Night and he told me whilst having a pint in his hand that he plans to score a try in the last minute. Looked like he had it all worked out because he was demonstrating to me how he’d do it on the dance floor.

They wasn’t prepared to tackle him either. Everyone was wondering what the hell he was doing though when he dived on the floor. But me and my mates just piled on him like the Leeds players did in today’s game. Then we got up and celebrated like lads do.

The manner of how Leeds got into the position may have had some luck involved, but the try wasn’t a fluke, an English International centre missed a crucial tackle.

So a player of his calibre missing a tackle in that situation is lucky for Leeds.

Maybe calling the try a complete fluke is over the top, but it was most certainly lucky and without that luck Leeds wouldn't be in the semi finals now.

And a game winning try in the last minute is a fluke. Guessing Wide to West was pure fluke as well? Even though it was a truly exceptional try to win a game in the last minute. It most definitely wasn't planned

Considering the conditions, it wasn't unlucky to miss those kicks, it was very hard.

There's no more luck in scoring in the last minute as in any other minute of the match. In fact scoring after the 75 minute mark is probably more common place than other time periods I'd guess, due to fatigue etc. I'd get your point if it had been a kick that hit the cross bar before rebounding off JJB's chin into Smith's hands but it was a run on the angle to the line.

If you’re going to assume that missing tackles is ‘luck’ to the opponents, then, there’s a lot of lucky tries scored.

It's dependant on the circumstances.

If a team plays poorly and is consistently missing tackles for 80 minutes, then its not going to be unlucky missing another in the last minute.


If a team stands solid for 79 minutes then misses a tackle near the tryline it is lucky.


You must see that the 2nd scenario is unluckier than the first??
