Same with Cas, wait till their fixture list gets rather tough.'"
I admit that we have had a number of what would appear the easier games at home than other clubs have had so far, but you can only beat what is in front of you.
We have beaten Huddersfield, who in my opinion, are one of the best sides in Super League, we have beaten Catalans, who Wigan and Warrington have failed to do.
We have beaten Hull KR, who beat the 'Mighty Leeds', so at what point should these tough games come along.
To be honest i cant wait until we play some of the 'Bigger name' clubs, because from some of the games i have seen this year on sky, Leeds, St Helens, look a shadow of their former self, and playing these teams do not worry me like they would in the past.
Whichever way it goes, at least we can stop hearing this drivel from fans of other clubs who give Cas no credit based on the clubs we have played so far.
Keep writing Cas off, it's the way it always has been, and probably always will be
This post may come back to bite me but for now i will enjoy what has been a great start to the season, and i am eagerly awaiting the tougher tests ahead

I must have missed the sticky thread that said all threads relating to Harlequins and London must include a detailed analysis (or not) of why they exist and are in Superleague. I was under the misapprehension that this thread might be about our current loss of form, but of course that would be ridiculous.
To those posters that say we London fans are ALWAYS banging on about the development work in London, well maybe if you stayed on topic instead of turning every thread into an anti-London rant you wouldn't be hearing that response quite so often.
Add Wakey to the long list of sides we are keeping out of Superleague... even though they are still in it.

Completely agree, you can't talk about Quins or Crusaders without poeple just starting to slag them off.
Back to topic, from what i've seen-which is mainly try highlights it looks like Quins are conceding a lot of tries on the fringes to me. Maybe it's caused by previous plays and they are on the backfoot. Maybe a Quins fan can enlighten us?
From what I can see, the injuries seem to be in the pack-Krasniqi, Golden, Ambler missed a couple, as did Burnett and Bryan. Maybe the forwards they have got fit are just a bit shot at?

| Ok enough with the Quins bashing, they were never really likely to stay top, but anything around midtable is a great result for them, after a few years with McDermott, its a miracle they can play at all. Cas will not finish top either, but again if they are in the top 8, thats a real acheivement. Good work by both teams, i hope it continues

| I'll have a go then Jonny. Here we have a team (Crusaders) in the elite league of our once great sport, gets quite alot of TV coverage (all be it on SKY), and they haven't even got a main shirt sponsor and neither have they many players sponsored either.
To keep this thread sort of on topic, Quins place in SL is nothing to do with success or failure

And if they didn't deserve that place in SL they would of been relegated shortly after.
But they didn't.
We went on to appearing in the CC Final in 99' while finishing 2nd in the league also that year.

Yes year after year London managed to avoid relegation, the same as Wakefield. The only time London could have been described to have been protected is the transition to Harlequins and the first licensing round in 2008. But Wakefield were also similarly protected in that first licensing round.

| So glad this thread seems to be back on topic!
I for one would be very sad to lose Wakey from SL. They have more than earned their place over the years, sometimes playing under immensely tragic circumstances and always capable of mixing it with the big boys. Like us they have never been relegated and never finished bottom (as far as I'm aware). From what I've seen they ain't finishing bottom this year either.
Yet they might well find themselves out of SL next year and if that happens then it is a damn shame. But... (and some may need to sit down to hear this) it will not be the fault of Quins RL, or even the Crusaders! If fans feel angry at whatever decision the RFL make direct it at the RFL not us, please. The RFL have a plan for growing the game and being able to increase TV revenue in the process. This plan involves having teams from outside the heartlands of the game whose role is a dual one of playing in SL and expanding the RL fan base across the country. This has had mixed success but Wakefield cannot fulfil this role so it has to be the expansion sides. We are not therefore the reason for Wakey losing their place. True, if we folded now Wakey would probably have a place in SL next year, but that would also be true if any of the other 12 sides folded as well! Please stop making us a scape goat. We have a different role to play than Wakey, we are a different category of team as we are in an expansion area. So yes we will be judged by different rules come licence application time and if we ever fail in an application it will almost certainly be to be replaced by another expansion team, not Wakey. The RFL have their system and if there are issues with it let them know, don't take it out on fans of other clubs.
Now to return to the topic... what the f**k has happened to our defence???

You know what they say : you can take the boy out of Wakefield, but you can't take the enormous knob off his head.
Change the record. Quins have no more concessions than any other team. They have a smaller budget than wakefield. They have far more obstacles to their success than Wakefield, and yet they're doing better on the field and off the field. I'd be looking to your own greenhouse before you start throwing stones.

I agree that we do, but it is in the complete wrong position. They get no fans and to be honest they will struggle to grow. They are based in what is possibly the biggest Rugby Onion stronghold in the world.
I live on the south coast now, just an hour out of London, but it would take me 3 hours to get there by train which is not good enough. Where I live there is a good Union presence but no where near the strength that there is just North of London. I think for a London RL team to work it has to be in South London, as another point is that where I live the nearest big Football team is Brighton who play league one and in the other direction its Gillingham who nobody is interested in watching, and as such I think around the South East corner there is a hunger to fulfill with professional sport.

So Quins are spending less than GBP 800k then? I have no axe to grind with Quins but how are they doing better than us off the field ? We have a leading community programme, reasonable youth development, bigger crowds and revenue streams than Quins.
Oh and were it not for the 4 point deduction for the failings of our previous management, we would only be 2 points behind them in the league as well. so hardly that much better than us on the field either.
Please tell me honestly if all criteria (and not just expansion) were taken into account why you think Quins and Crusaders would have a better franchise application than us.

it was tried to a certain extent at charlton. they put good roots down, and i believe schools in the area are still playing. the valley was just far too big, but i thought it was a shame when they left there as they just didn't give it the time. perhaps a place on the coast could be the answer. a day out at the seaside may wet peoples appetites
