| The West Indies coach mis-calculating his teams Duckworth/Lewis target last year springs to mind...
As for Rugby League, I'm sure there are bloody loads.

| Before anyone says the RFL appointing Steve McNamara coach of the English National side... that’s not funny!
I always enjoy seeing the footage of a Union guy dropping the ball over the line doing a stupid swallow dive... search for “guy screws up a great try” and it provides a laugh

| A cup draw back in the 80's? Something about a ball missing / duplicate ball??? Can't remember the full details, just that it had to be redrawn.

| That wasn't a cock-up, that was part of our brilliant strategy to stay up and put Cas where they belong, and to win the SL by 2010.

It was a cock up by the RFL. Should have been three years with no competition points IMO. You'd have been in North West Counties playing against Warrington Wizards.

Any other self respecting sport would have revoked a teams member status. Or at the very least relegated them right to the bottom (like in football, see Swindon a while back - yes I know it wasn't salary cap but that's how it should be done).

Not the best example to use for a self respecting sport – Swindon were relegated two divisions (one on appeal I think) for financial irregularities and yet the next season Chelsea were caught doing the same thing yet were only fined. Unfortunately all sports are the same, one rule for the rich and powerful, another rule for the rest. The only differences are scale

Was about to have a go saying that it wasn't a cock-up but great defending by Tom Briscoe, then I realised that you're probably referring to that guy who missed the goal in front of the posts, sorry.

| By far the most infamous cock-up in NFL history is Jim Marshall's 'wrong way touchdown'.
He picked up a fumble and ran 66 yards the wrong way to inadvertantly score a two point safety!
Elsewhere, horse racing has seen numerous cock-ups over the years with jockeys relaxing in front, thinking they had the race won, when they hadn't.
Quite a few jockeys have also misjudged a race and rode out a finish a circuit too early!

| One of the best RL ones would have to be when Terry Lamb thought the scores were tied in the last minute of a game so he kicked a field goal. Only problem was his side was two points behind and they lost by one.

There was a CC draw in the early 70's when Leigh's ball fell out of the bag early on, and Leeds were drawn at home...........no balls left in the bag, so some dude ran across the studio to pick up the lost ball............That was redrawn!

I think Tim Lumb did something similar at HKR in the '90's but he did it on purpose as he thought we'd have time to get back up that end of the pitch and put over another one pointer to draw the match or try and get a penalty and win by 1pt!!! And they say props are dumb!
