Not so. The early Liverpool City vanished without trace. Liverpool Stanley (from whom the back half of my i/d on here is derived) were formed in 1934 and became Liverpool City after moving from Stanley Stadium to Knotty Ash stadium circa 1950.

(I think there's an error in Wikipedia in that the club was still called Liverpool Stanley in its first year at Knotty Ash, changing to Liverpool City next season.
I recall the club's name being painted in white on the black corrugated iron fence which surrounded the ground. When the name changed, instead of repainting the complete sign, they just painted out the "Stanley" and replaced it by "City" with the spacing neatly adjusted by inserting a Liver Bird shape between "Liverpool" and "City".)
