I like to imagine a very old Keith Senior sitting in a nursing home in a damp incontinence pad telling anyone who walks past that he used to play rugby for Leeds and that he won lots and lots of medals and the nurses turn to the visitors and say "Bless him, he thinks he played rugby for Leeds and won lots of medals, didn't bring a thing with him when the council moved him here you know..."
I think about all the past saints players who have donated personal memorabillia to the Steve Prescott fund including winners medals etc and it makes me smile.
Then I think about no mark, classless idiots like Ryan Atkins and Keith Senior who, when all is said and done, will only be be remembered for whoring their items to the highest bidder.
Does anybody think he`s in such need of £300? Really? Has anybody seen his house or the car he drives? He is well off.
Has anybody asked Ryan if the money made on the sale isn`t going to a charity?
And in 12 months time when he goes into an innocuous challenge and completely ruptures all the ligaments in his knee and his career as a professional sports man is cut short, what does he do then?
What people on here don't seem to realise is that the majority of sportsmen and women have very short careers. I mean, what's the average for being in a position to earn decent money? 10 years maybe? For most of us, our working lives are 4 times that long.
And as someone else has pointed out, the usual RLFANS attitude of grabbing the wrong end of the stick and beating about the bush with it comes into play, and no-one has asked if Atkins is keeping the money or if it's going to charity.
