If you think about it the salary cap benefits really just 2 clubs (And this is not a dig at them)
LEEDS RHINOS (100%)
HULL FC (To a lesser extent)
I think someone
worked out way back that at £ 1.65 Million a year there is money to be made out of RL lets look at thye facts there is no way that Leeds can spend the income that they make from Rugby League they have produced some fantastic local players over the last decade (Many very cheap) and all they really have to do is sign the odd Aussie/Kiwi on a decent salary Leeds have fantastic corporate surport and revenue steams that are second to none in SL (Not forgeting the rah rah cash from Twickenham) Hull FC maintain decent gates with some good local players and although the accounts only show a small profit i bet your bottom dollar there is no money being put in by the directors and its common knowledge that the club is up for sale (Wonder if the RFL will be paid their money backicon_smile.gif
Every other club bar these 2 are losing or just about breaking even or have a sugar daddy.
HULL KR We all know the situation there
WALKEFIELD Very difficult for them
CAS Same as Wakefield
BULLS Really having a bad time
WOLVES Thank god for Simon Moran the man is a legend
Wigan Same as Wolves with Lenegan
Quins For Lenegan read Hughes
Saints Until the new stadium is built lose money every year
Reds Wilkinson incredible League man
Dragons Rely on Sky/Away fans/Maire
Crusaders/Geoff Moss
Giants/Ken Davy
So everyone bar Leeds/Hull FC will continue to break even or lose money the bottom line is for the RFL read RHINOS/HULL FC they are the real people that run RL in the UK and as Arthur Daly said ITS A NICE LITTLE EARNER
so why change things we can make money and there will always be someone who comes along to prop the others up.
