The paucity of replies to this thread is indicative of how its actually quite tricky to think of a single candidate

If you exclude players who are on loan (Lilley), likely to be..ummm.. 'not available' (Moore) or permanently injured (Lee Smith) then do we actually have anyone who could step up?

As an aside, besides Pryce, Moore and Smith who is the next oldest/most experienced player in the squad?

Campbell is among the most experienced, and knows this division, not sure about a winger as captain though.

Chisholm or Magrin seem the logical options looking from the outside.

Chisholm seems the logical choice given his stature at the club and the aura surrounding him! Loving the fact that Magrin's name has been thrown into the mix as I think he has been great this season and leads from the front but I'm also going to suggest James Bentley!

Bentley is too young to have the responsibility of captain thrown onto him too. Future captain is very likely, but he shouldn't have to shoulder that now. Needs to just concentrate on his game and improving best he can so that he can be a superstar.

Chisholm I think people fall into the trap of "good player = good captain". I don't think he is the kind of person you want as captain really and his game doesn't really suit it.

Scott Moore is definitely the correct shout if he doesn't become unavailable. If he does disappear, what about Roche?

I'd go along with that assessment. Was really impressed with Roche on Saturday.

Chissy never seems to stop talking, to be fair and the one thing you need in a skipper is a communicator. I've no idea what he's saying though..

Problem with him as captain is when things aren't going so well he tends to throw a strop. Which really isn't what you want your skipper doing.

Our problem is that there isn't any 'standout' skipper.

A squad of mostly young lads and loanees isn't exactly where I'd have started from, to be honest but that is where we are. On playing record you'd probably have to go for Moore, but he does bring some baggage. Peltier is mid twenties but very inexperienced and, as a prop, won't spend that much time on field anyway. Lee Smith does have experience but doesn't seem to be around - is he still injured? James Mendeika is a possibility, I suppose. And then...Errm, well Robbie took it on at 21, of course, but I'm not sure we have Robbie on the books.

Hopefully, things are going to go swimmingly from now on and there will be no need for the skipper to 'go into a strop'......?

Don't be silly! This is classic organisation by the Bulls - make a guy into club captain three days before he gets banged up in prison for a year.

No, but it was adjourned. Not sure of the new date though.

He is no doubt the best candidate in the current squad. But if he gets banged up before the season ends, it's going to be another one of those things people point and laugh at the Bulls about. Yet another one.

Not sure what the alternative is, to be honest.

Truth is I agree with just about everything everyone has said, but given that Chisholm is out of action for this game what is the alternative?
