What a stupid post to make. Did you not read the statement and the reasons for such legal action?

| Bradford had the choice to fight or give up. Leeds had acontract, Bradford tried to get round it and found they had broken it.
They fought and lost. Leeds just played the game well.
None of that is Leeds fault.

OK, how about we just pop accross and poach Roby from you and induce him to breach his contract. That, presumably is OK with you?

| Interesting that the news of the Harris saga and subsequent monetary agreement is announced the same day as the redundancies - thereby deflecting most of the interest away.
That is all.......

| You can`t blame Leeds for this sorry mess , a lot of time money and effort was spent in engineering Harris away from Leeds. Harris as well knew he was doing wrong ,he broke an agreement in doing what he did. It wasn`t just the money they paid out to Leeds either Harris got a good share out too.Plus if I remember correctly at the time when Noble wanted Harris there was an arrangement with Wakefield to take 3 players to help pay for Harris one of whom was Robbie Whatsit Paul. The Bradford Club was cock a hoop and proclaimed Harris as a player despite not having a "signed agreement" with Wakefield who pulled out. I remember this as I attended the Presidents dinner in Leeds at the time where someone mentioned it on stage and everyone was gobsmacked. So you were stuck with the three players as well , Noble who had been on GB duty then went on holiday leaving everyone else to sort it out and although at least one was sorted somewhere else fairly quickly Robbie Paul was a good 18 months before he went to Huddersfield because he had just been given a new 4 or 5 yr contract on good money and I don`t think Huddersfields terms were as good .
The way I see it Harris, Noble and Robbie Paul should come back and give a hand out at the Club they have had some of the good let them help out with the bad.
It`s a sorry mess all round and as usual the fans are paying the price I`m afraid but I cannot see how anybody conected with running the Club can be left with any credability.

He told the fans the amount Leeds were originally claiming.
He never stated the amount of the settlement.
Happy to refresh your memory on those points.
He dropped out - and it was an accident - the all-up costs of the Harris debacle at the meeting we had with him before Easter. It was very close to a figure someone sort of dropped out a couple of years ago, again by accident. The legal and other costs were higher than the figure Coulby is current quoting in what looks to me like seriously disingenuous terms. The amount of the settlement itself is a little higher than I had worked out it had to be.
Does any of it matter any more? I never had you down for engaging in [ischadenfreude[/i. Disappointed in you.

You're getting mixed up, we offered 3 players to Wakefield (including Jamie Langley & Robbie - can't remember who the 3rd was) when we were trying to buy Gareth Ellis when he left Wakey to join Leeds. Harris was signed in mid season so the chance of Noble being on holiday was zero

Perhaps our legal team gave us a discounted rate for this assignment!

| In reality, who gives a t0$$ now.
Next time, Leeds will have to take another club to court, as ours is gone.

And I stated I didn't believe it. I still don't. Do you?
Anyway, I wasn't intentionally engaging in schadenfreude (I'd earlier expressed my sympathies on another thread) but as you know I am keen the record is accurate when it comes to the Harris litigation and subsequent fall out.
Regardless, probably not the time to engage in all that again so I apologise.

Yes I do.
Firstly because I was told the figure from elsewhere too.
Secondly because when Hood was forced to apologise, the apology was for suggesting that the intent of the claim was to bankrupt the Bulls; not for the amount he stated the claim to be.
But I accept your clarification that your intent was as you say. Right now, its all a bit academic anyway.

| I've always been a bit confused by the whole Harris debacle.
Let me get this straight...
Harris had a contract with Leeds that stated that if he quit Cardiff Leeds would have first choice on his services [ibut[/i if he was sacked by Cardiff he was free to sign for anyone...
When he signed for the Bulls it was presented to the club that he was free to do so as Cardiff had dispensed with his services... in reality his agent had (without Harris's knowledge...) handed in his notice on his behalf making Bradford liable for a transfer fee...
Is that correct? If so, WTF? Surely his agent and/or solicitor would be liable for the fee or at least could have been taken to court by the Bulls for misrepresenting their clients position?
As for Leeds pushing for a transfer fee... I can't say I blame them as I would have expected Bradford to have done the same if the role had been reversed (although whether Leeds wanted or needed Harris is another matter!) It's a shame that it needed to go through the legal system though rather than the RFL being able to sort it internally as it once again soiled the game.

Just one point I'd like to clarify. At the time the Bulls attempted to register Harris with a RFL player contract Leeds ask the RFL not to do so because, they claimed, Harris was contractually obligated to us. The RFLs stance was that they were happy to register Harris as a Bulls player and let Leeds, Harris and the Bulls deal with the legal ramifications.
