He's been getting better and improving the parts of his game that he was rightfully getting stick for earlier in the season. I don't see Luke Gale as being any improvement anyway.

Herbert will have a proper off season this year which has to make a difference for half back. Sunday wasn't a one off either, we've seen him put in good performances against Leeds and good halves before but not a full game (and he's not the only one it that boat!).

Fair enough if there was a much better signing coming in but not for Luke Gale.

Herbert has improved of late, but he's really a stand off IMO. And we've already Briggs and Jeffries on the books for next year.

As for Gale, another stand off who i believe is no better than Briggs. Anyway he's rumoured to be on his way to Hull FC...

im reserving judgement as to whether he is what we need

also i would have jeffries over herbert every day of the week, but still not the class we need

I still don't think Luke Gale is an improvement though so not worth the disruption. Like I say if we have a significantly better replacement (esp if its not using the quota spot) then fine but at the moment that doesn't seem to be the case.

Op's gonna be disappointed as I heard herberts staying another year. And anyone who thinks gale is an improvement is deluded to say the least

Earlier in the season I wasn't so sure about him, right now I'm leaning towards keeping him for another year. He has certainly improved as he's got up to speed with SL and with another off season and time to build a partnership with Jeffries I feel he is worth the chance for another year.

Hopefully Addy will get some more game time at loose, his best position, next season. Would be good to mix and match with Langers. Having to fill in at hooker isn't doing Addy any favours at the moment (or having to try and fill Heath's boots).

You're right, the fact he's our top try provider, that he's improving his game and growing into more of a leader every week should not detract from the bigger picture of you talking out of your backside

I'm sure I am not the only one who rates the credibility of this latest incarnation "roger daily" at around 1% of that of Dave Parker?

where do we get this idea from that everything is rosy in the garden, herbert has been there all season and he is below average, we all know this so after a decent performance we think hes the answer to our problems

And no-one is suggesting everything in the garden is rosy. It is of course very disingenuous - I will go as far as to say dishonest - to try and put words in peoples' mouths in that manner.

I realise statistics don't always tell the full story, but Marc Herbert is 5th in the entire Super League for try assists. He's created more tries than Kevin Sinfield, Lee Briers, or Michael Dobson.

So, we're going to get rid of him and bring in someone who has created less tries and is one of the worst players in the competition for missed tackles



I'd be happy to lose Herbert IF we can guarantee that he will be replaced by someone significantly better. But that someone is NOT Luke Gale

im not singling out one player, as i have said before, get rid of donaldson, crookes, platt, sykes, plus couple more

im not saying gale is any better than herbert, im saying we have signed one half back, so if we are gonna sign a quailty one then herbert would have to make way

And how would you propose to get rid of players who are on longish contracts like Sykes and Platt? Given that the compo you would have to pay them would count under the next two years' salary caps, and thereby restrict our ability to sign replacements?
