| They mentioned something about it at the end of the game.
I think it was pretty even over all, but the Bulls had more in the first half and Cru had more in the 2nd.
TBH, I wouldn't blame the ref for tonight's performance. Both teams looked shaky.

| I think they said 5 -2 to Bulls in the first half and 8 - 3 to Cru in the second.

| The VR was worse, the two decisions for Crusaders tries at the end were laughable. Still at least I get to see a Benefit of the Doubt try finally.

So that's 8-10. Not a huge number of penalties, tbh could have been more if Mr Silverwood clamped down more. But the game was disjointed enough without a whistle happy ref.

| The decisions that stick out without seeing the replay is the Gareth Raynor offload towards the end of the 1st half that clearly went backwards before bouncing forward and the video ref 'held up' decision in the 2nd.
He was in a great position to judge whether the ball was grounded, the video ref had no chance of seeing it. I just hope the referees are consistent that if a player is pushed over the line and bodies prevent a clear grounding then it is a try. I am pretty damn sure we'll see plenty similar 'tries' chalked off without the vid ref in attendance.

| The game didn't really go on long enough without an error for the ref have to give any penalties!
I thought Silverwood had a decent game.

| Some of the decisions were questionable but the game levelled itself out in the end. He didn't really miss much (apart from Thomas knocking on from the kick off).
That being said the BOTD call was very fishy though.

| I didn't think he was any worse than he usually is
But then I start from very low expectations where Silverwood is concerned

| The most ridiculous decision was "no holding down" at the end of our break, a copybook sinbin foul, and impossible to miss

| Just rewatched the game on Sky. Very painful error strewn viewing for a Crusaders fan but I always thought that the game was played to the referees whistle. Silverwood definitely blew the whistle before L'Estrange grounded the ball. How can you score a try if play has already stopped? You were the better team over the 80 minutes before I get accused of being a poor loser

Dodgy video ref decisions? Don't even go there pal, cos we're the world's experts. And as for that incident, if you want to criticise a VR decision, I'd suggest picking one where your team deserved to score/defend as the case may be, and not a clutching-at-straws one where regardless of your point, any ref whistle made zero difference to the play, and the try 100% deserved to be awarded.
I call your "whistle" VR decision and raise you a fruit and nut "Benefit of the doubt" decision.

| Yet another season starts and yet another season where instead of talking about exciting rugby league we are talking about the poor performance of the REFS. Lets be honest while that clown Cummings in in charge then the standard of rugby league reffing will NEVER EVER improve. Just one season I would like to see all refs work to the same rules! Name me any of the current crop who everyone can automatically say "yep good ref". Child is exceptionally poor and should only be allowed to be in touch judge, ganson is too old and slow now and still thinks its all about him. Silverwood favours his favourites. Bentham after Friday is clearly not up to controlling a game effectively. its a shame cos we have a wonderful product that is being spoilt by poor officials

Easy one.
If the referee's blowing the whistle caused any defenders to stop prematurely, when they could have stopped the try, then it would be chalked off. If the blowing of the whistle nanoseconds before the try was scored, actually made no difference whatsoever, then the video ref can essentially rule that the whistle blow was wrong and the try stands (much like he can rule that the ref calling "play on" was wrong as long as it's within the same PTB).
In this case, the replay showed that the whistle was blown as L'Estrange was just falling towards the line. If any defending player could have stopped him had that whistle not been blown, then I think we've discovered the secret identity of The Flash.

What an asinine comeback!
Tell you what, identify one single aspect of play that was, or even might have been, even 1% affected by this whistle, and then we'll talk about it.
What's that? You can't? Well then run along

Too right mate but you'll not get any sympathy on here with everyone's RAB tinted specs on. I despair at other Bulls fans sometimes.
L'estrange must have heard the whistle because he was right by him so I really can't understand why he continued to fall through the air! Professional Players people!!!!
