How big was that hit Nick Scruton put in? It must have felt like a car crash!

If anybody has an footage, please,please upload it so we can relive the impact!

It was massive. Absolutely massive.

Scruton actually jumped off of the floor a little bit when he went in to smash him, and the ref was having a lengthy discussion with his assistants afterwards just to double check it was legit.

Have to give credit to the hull kr player for:

a) keeping hold of the ball
b) getting up not too long after the hit
c) still being aware of where he was/ what year it was/ what his name was!

Great hit, well timed and laid down an early marker. Thats what we're about.

Got to agree, especially the bit in bold, the lad did really well not to drop the ball with his sences!

Scruton is an absolute monster this year. Got to be in the England squad.

How Clinton didn't drop that ball I'll never know. I was particularly amused how he got up, and started wildly shaking his head as if he was trying to put his marbles back in place!

The hit and the reaction from the rest of the team is exactly the sort of thing you want to see as a fan (Perhaps not a HKR fan, granted).

Superb technique to pull that off.

That in addition to some of the tries and other defensive efforts (the bundling in to touch, in the corner nearest the pop terrace, in the second half, after 4(?) sets, was another good one) started to get that old buzz back around the place.

Scruton would feature on it every week. Every single game he puts at least one big hit in, but this one on Clinton was better than any. It really was something quite special and I can't remember off the top of my head ever seeing such a big hard hit that was legal. I still don't understand how Clinton kept the ball!

I've not seen Scrutes hit but compared to Big Joe's or Les's hits on Hull players at Odsal - how does it compare?

Spot on about Scrutes. I see Andy Wilson in the Grauniad described him and Lynchy as the most effective pair of props in the competition, who with the change in England coach will hopefully get "overdue" recognition for international honours.

That hit was right in front of me - we felt the stand shake. I think it was even better than Sam's on Moi Moi. Big credit to Clinton for handling it. HKR were really bigging-up their marquee signing start of the season but, as I said earlier, someone forgot to tell Nick.

Well colour me shocked. There was NOTHING wrong with that shot. It was incredibly hard, but perfectly fair. If he gets a ban for that, considering what other players have been let off with this year, the RFL need sorting out.

The particularly strange part is when you compare that to what it says on Webster's citation sheet (for the one he got sent off for):

The wording for both Scruton & Webster is the same, yet Scruton's is Grade B and Webster's Grade A. Which is a 1 match ban difference. Amazing, it really is.

It was a great hit! Nothing wrong with it from where i was. Scruton just read the play well. Clinton was lined up to perfection.

Now I'm well aware as a Hull KR you aren't going to agree with me but at the time I thought it was an awful tackle. Scruton ran at pace, jumped and I'm fairly sure made contact with Clinton's head in a manner which was dangerous and could have caused injury.

I can see why you all thought it was a good hit, because it was. It was however illegal. I'll be prepared to change my mind when I've seen the footage as this is just my feeling after seeing it once, live.

Well it'll be a great debate this when you start with such an open mind.

I clearly stated that this was my feeling at the time and that I hadn't had the benefit of a replay, the RFL Disciplinary panel (who have had the benefit of a replay) clearly think there's something in it.

Have you seen a replay?

The tackle was right in front of me. It looked very hard but legal. The officials chatted about it but took no action.

The citing surprised me, especially in view of the panel's view of certain other incidents in the game, including the clotheslining of Donaldson and Murrell's antics earlier.

But I saw it once, at speed, in real time. I've not seen a replay yet so you have to be prepared to discover that something happened that you did not see. Would be surprised and disappointed though.

Nothing to do with open mindedness.
