| Would be a good addition to the backroom staff?

| Sorry to read this. Scott Naylor was one of our best clubmen....not the greatest centre and certainly not the fastest, but utterly consistent and reliable. His defence in particular was awsome. I remember to this day how he marked Paul Newlove in our first grand final such that Newlove might not have been playing.
I wish we had a Scott Naylor now.

Me too. I was always a big fan of his. Steve Renouf, Keith Senior, Paul Newlove were all superstars centres and he had them in his pocket every time he played against them. Not the best going forward, but probably one of the best defensive centres to ever play the game.

| This is a crying shame i thought he was a fantastic player for us and could bring a lot to our training staff.

| The article has much wider application than Naylor though. (The best defensive centre we have had in the SL era IMO - although he did a few things in attack too - remember how he owned Renouf in that Grand Final?)
How many current and recent-past SL players are (or were) living just for now, with little thought for what they will do after? In the present employment climate, where experience is everything, I suspect this will become a big issue for many of those who have not troubled to gain some wider qualifications or experience. Or invested a decent chunk of their top-flight earnings into something tangible for the future such as property - as a number of big names did, and often not ones you might expect.
Something too for people to remember when having a go at some of the salaries.
I thought that was an excellent, and pretty thought-provoking article - by an excellent player who will most certainly find no difficulty in gaining future employment in the media should he finally leave RL.

| If we were to sign him because of his ability as a coach then I would have no problem, if we were to sign him because he's an ex player out of work then i'd be dissapointed.

Isn't that what we did with Macnamara?

| Its such a shame that such a good player is now sat at home watching daytime TV. I am sure he could still teach our current centres a thing or two.

| Well, given his ability in defence, surely there's an opening on the coaching staff for a defensive coach? I think we could use one, given the amount of points we've shiped this season

There may be an opening in the staff, but I don't think there's an opening on the wage bill.
