The homegame this weekend sees the last appearance at Odsal of a genuine Bradford legend. Just how good was Robbie for our club both on and off the field?
I hope the club mark the occation in some small way, even though he's playing for Salford I think its a significant event and is one of the reasons I'm really looking forward to this game.... I might even dig out one of my old shirts which has Robbie and his squad number 1 on the back to wear this weekend as my own little tribute to the hotstepper.
Whats everyones best memory of Robbie? On or off the field?
I'll go for the obvious, for me it was his 1996 cup final, with the hat trick, MOM, spinning the ball on his finger as the teams walked out, but especially the break from half way try, awesome... I'd never personally seen a Bradford player score such a good try on such a big stage, that day took Bradford rugby league to a different level for me, and Robbie was a big part of that.
Cheers for the memories Robbie, and I look forward to giving you a good (hopefully losing ) sendoff this weekend.

2003 - our best player till he broke his arm.

| So many memories to choose from.
96 Cup Semi where he had Leeds mesmorised. That pass he attempted behind his back was the sort of flair we hadn't seen for years.
The 96 Cup Final was even better, that hattrick try was something else.
His partnership with Henry 99-01 was the best halfback pairing we've ever had.
He was still capable of the big plays right through his career with us. A nice bloke who was a great figurehead for the club.
Hope there's some kind of presentation for him at the Salford match.

| Robbie has been one of the best players in the modern game since the start of super league and has been one of the best bulls players ever and I always remember the 96 final when Robbie side stepped nearly the whole team and he has been phenomenal in our Successful years in the Super League era and hope he scores this weekend but then we score six more tries but Good Luck to Robbie after a fantastic career and he deserves a leaving presentation but thank you Robbie for being our hero for so long.

| He's a good media pundit for the BBC. I would like him to replace that unintelligible Celt Davies.
Went off a bit towards the end for us, cost us the 2004 GF with an unforced error. IMO that was the day that ended his career for us.

| The day on the TV. when the ref called him over, (as he was the captain), to tell Henry off for a misdameaner, and Robbie said some thing like "He's my big brother" even the ref laughed at that one. Pure magic. and a very nice Guy too.

| The only Bradford Northern player still active. Been good for the club and for the game. Hope he gets a good reception - it would be nice if the club acknowledged it in some way.

Me too. I stood at the back of the stand at Old Trafford clapping the team as they paraded the trophy sobbing like a baby because I knew it was all over and that hard times lay ahead. My wife left me soon after that and I had to give up working at the abbartoir due to having a lung removed.

[i"I think Robbie Paul deserves a mention also in terms of the fact that he's coming back to the Grattan Stadium probably for the last time - certainly as a Super League player - and he has been synonymous with the success this club enjoyed over a number of years. Certainly he was a great player to play alongside and when I came back as Assistant Coach he was very good for me. So we wish him all the success for the future."[/i

Robbie gets a mention from McNamara in the Bullseye piece on the website but nothing else. I hope its mentioned in some way either pre game, half time or post game. Doesn't have to be much in my view, but regonition should be made. Its not often that someone so embodies an era at a club as Robbie did/does for our club and the first 9/10 years of SL.
I've find out my 1999 home shirt with Robbie on the back and for the Salford match I shall mainly be wearing that.
