Didn't make it this year, but, reading the comments from others who did, I'd like to go next year.

So, can anyone recommend any good hotels please, if possible, with prices, distance from ground & local amenities?

Think you will ahve a job on to get any near the ground TBH. I booked ours as soon as we got back yesterday, and could only get our second choice. It is near the castle.
The one we stayed at this year which is about 6 miles outside of Edinburgh is fully booked, and after checking out the hotels later on last night, the majority of reasonably priced ones are.

We rented a flat. Six of us got a nice place for three nights. Total cost £210. Meant we could make our own grub which cut down on cost. The flat was between the ground and Edinburgh town centre. Approx £4 taxi fare from Princes St. About 30mins walk from ground.

We're getting the same place again next year too as it worked so well.

I'd check out places to rent if I were you.

Same, ours was £250 on Leith waterfront, brand new pad.

we were in a B & B in joppa,4 miles out. we paid £30 per person a night and it was so good we booked for next year.
it is on a bus route and they are every 5 minutes and was close enough to get to but far enough for for it to be quiet on a night

Depends what you want but at the upper end:
The Bulls Supporters, organised by the club, were in the Barcelo Towers (Carlton) at around £240 for two for two nights inc breakfast.
189 bedrooms they say are 4 star, I'd say about right.
Its on North Bridge which is minutes from Princes St, Rose St and George St. - and High St the other way leading to the Castle with the Grassmarket nearby.
IMO one of the best locations in the city.
100 yards from a bus to the ground. which is about 2 miles and £1.20 fare.
The bus services are the best I've ever seen in a large city.
300 yards from the train station.

When is it next year? How do people know that?

Which one? We stopped in a caravan park as well, lots of rugby fans but didn't see any other Bulls fans.

Ayemouth, it was about 40 miles from Murrayfield though.

Oh right, we were only a few miles away, I would recommend it if you go next year, easy to get into town and not a bad site

Most Hotels are NOT booked up at this time for next year, despite what it says on their web sites.
They will not allocate rooms untill they know where the market is going to be and how much they can charge. Did the same this year when eventually you could easily book a hotel 4/6 weeks before the games though the choices were obviously more limited.
Try booking just into the new year 2010
B&Bs & Guesthouse will mostly offer bookings now.
