| Thought both Walsh and Burns had pretty good games tonight, looked as though they were starting to click. Walshy's decision making got us fluent in attack for large parts of the game.

Walsh is getting better each week. I'm getting more and more confident he will get back to the player he was. At times he could have shown and gone tonight but that will come when he's more confident in contact.
I thought Burns was pretty suspect in defence tonight but he's getting better with the ball and the combination with walsh is starting to click.
It's nice to have a option either side of the PTB with having two out and out hslves.

| They both looked very good as a pairing tonight and Walsh seemed to be more confident. Perfect timing for the super 8s.

| Had Travis Burns not had two bad minutes out of seventy-eight I'd have given him the MOM.
Involved in everything that was good going forward. Scored and set up tries. Was always the first defender in the face of a Hull kick-returner. The guy is one of the fiercest competitors I've seen at the club. Bearing in mind the horrendous stuff that was aimed at his head over at New Craven he had more than enough motivation to go out looking to settle scores. Certainly the Travis Burns of [ipopular opinion[/i would.
Oh and the 40-20 was great.
Aside from Burns I thought just about everyone played well. Particular mention to Charnock and Greenwood.

| Also special mention to Amor and Jones lots of hard work from these two. Amor going into the collision on the front foot making lots of hard yards, Jones causing lots of trouble in broken play. KC seemed to be using Mose and Walmsley sparingly by letting Sav do long minutes.
HKR found our edges with fast ball still showing our weakness there, but I think we got back on the bus in the second half helped by some risky ball from HKR.
Was nice to see lots of attacking options courtesy of Walsh and Burns.

Can't knock a score line like that and we scored some very good tries but if we defend like that next week we will get punished. I know we only let two scores in but a good team would have mafe us pay.
Our left edge is still weak and leeds will exploit thst.

It was the turn of our right hand edge last night, Percival took a couple of knocks (ankle + head) HKR was sending some traffic his way and he missed 5 tackles, Burns missed a few but he put some good tackles in as well.
Our line speed needs to be much betternext week, glad Vea is back makes the pack more energised. Don,t know why Sav did all those minutes without a rest.

Maybe Sav will be the one making way next week

| I'd say our right edge was far dodgier than the left last night.
Yes the halves looked good with the ball, but Burns was poor under pressure in defence and rovers inexplicably barely tested Walsh in defence.
Rovers were dreadful and it tells us nothing about next week.

| I think we can forgive Percival the odd off night. His defence has been damn near faultless since he established himself in the first team.
People really do need to get over this obsession with missed tackles. We're no longer in the days when missing more than ten tackles over eighty minutes was an egregious sin. The fact that Hull KR accumulated a jaw-dropping [uSEVENTY EIGHT[/u recently is a good indicator of how the game has changed over the last few years.
Given some of the very tight defensive patterns in SL (and Saints' is among the tightest) it shouldn't come as any surprise when centres and wingers make not just one - but several mistakes. Moreover, with players now regularly topping 6'3 and 16st+ it should be equally unsurprising when smaller halves are beaten one-on-one - repeatedly.
Quite frankly I find it rather pathetic that in a season when Saints' DEFENCE (as opposed to our attack) has been instrumental in us currently sitting position #1 people have chosen to obsess over achieving a degree of defence which the game appears to have moved on from and individual statistics which are worth precisely ZERO trophies, points etc.

| Burns made 20 tackles and only missed 2 last night. Walsh didn't miss a single tackle.
Edit. Oops it was actually 5 and 2 misses. Getting my MI's and MT's mixed up on the stats.

Good numbers from Charnock (29), Sav (2icon_cool.gif, Jones (27) and Greenwood (25) in defence with just 4 missed between them. It seems like the left was tighter than the right side this week, Turner/Greenwood/Walsh missed 5 between them with Burns(5)/Percival(5)/Vea(?)(2) missing 12.
Our back 3 all hit over 150m going forward with Swift making 205. Very good numbers going forward from most players.
It says Dawson made 3 errors, I can't even remember a single one.

| Just seen the game on the TV.
It was a pretty tight performance. There was a slip for 10 - 15 minutes where we took the eye of the game, but that happens when you have run up a 4 try lead and Hull KR are not a terrible team.
I think we are overly critical of the team sometimes and we looked like a well drilled outfit.
We could do with Catalans turning up on Sunday and putting in a good show.
But in the end I'm confident that we will put up a better display against Leeds than the last 2 times, when really we were just not at the pace of the game for some reason. Also don't forget even if Leeds finish above us this weekend, they have still been beaten by other teams this year who we have also beaten.
I'm not certain of a win, but confident that it will be a tighter game and not a gimme for Leeds like the last 2.
