Most of you will have seen this shop, just thought i'd post it up to jog the ex pats memories. Mouthwatering

Is pimmies still going? I thought it went bust. Their steak pies and meat n taters were glorious, shortly followed by a box of rennies. There should have been a pimmies pie stall in LP if it's still going.

in fact I think someone mentioned they said you can park on their car park on Jackson st , buy a pie and stroll to the game, which was a good idea i think

"Pimmies" pies now are a hollow mockery of the glories of old. You're better off with Gregg's these days (assuming there is one in St. Helens - there's one everywhere else in the country after all). Avoid them at all costs as you'll only get upset at how awful they are. My steak and meat n' potato were always the highlight of my rare visits back to 'Telllins, but never again. Treasure the memories as that is all we have left now...

Please don't tell me Pimmies have gone. I'm only just coming to terms with the return of the Tories. If I have to deal with them without a pimmies steak pie on my occasional visits home, then life won't be worth living !

Alas, Pimmies went a few years back.

God, that's tragic. In 4th and 5th year, my school dinner money used to go on two steak and onion pies daily from the pimmies near the Four Acre estate. Just typing that I can almost taste them. What is the world coming to ?

Surely someone in the stadium could set up a retro Pimmies concession - they'd make a mint on match days !

Did they get taken over by Waterfields from Leigh ?

Waterfields took over their shop at Fingerpost but they didn't take the company over. The College Street outlet pictured above is actually now a bathroom place.

The Pimbletts in Rainford is now a Waterfields too.

I think Waterfields bought a lot of the shops.

The Pimmies Pies from Jackson street are great and Pimmies pies are being sold in The Raven on all Saints Home Games.

Was bouncing on Friday specially as Danny`s brother Paddy got the first try and completed the Hattrick.

I`m declaring a vested interest as I play Darts for them on a Thursday.

The Pimmies available from AM Foods on the Jackson Street industrial estate are as good as the last ones that Pimblett's made. As for getting one before the game, well that's going to be tricky unless the game kicks off on a Saturday day time because AM Foods closes about 2pm I think.

You know most people still think they're the same pies don't you? I completely agree with you, they are poor imitations. I knew every inch of a classic pimbletts pie, I adored them, but these 'pimmies' pies are tasteless, they fall down in all the departments that made up the once great pies. I can't believe people are fooled by these imitations, they seriously need to question their taste buds.

Remember Pimmies' Wembley Packs? Usually eaten by about Sandbach.

They advertised as being open for the match on Friday so maybe they plan to open for match nights in future? I suppose that will depend on what response they had on Friday.

Yes, I remember. They were fabulous. I miss the original Pimmies.

I loved the original Pimbletts steak pies, and their gooseberry/blackcurrant tarts. I knew a couple of the girls who worked there. One of them (Maureen ?) used to walk up Standish Street as we were walking down to Forsters/Rockware in the morning.

It is the same ingredient mix. They paid Pimblett's something like £60k so that they could use it. The quality wasn't there when they first started out but the consistency is there now trust me. I was a connoisseur lol.
