The wife has asked me to pose a question.

She is due to pop out our first child in around 2-3 weeks, and she like me is a 5 season ticket holder. The question is, what sort of age have people taken babies/children to a game? (obviously going to make a call weatherwise nearer the time)

I also understand that kids under 4 don't need a ticket (or at least until they start taking up seat space)

Any info would be most helpful.

It's up to you. You can take a baby from any age, so it just depends how comfortable they are at the games and how comfortable your better half is with holding a baby through a game of rugby.

Yeah a lot of it will be how chilled out he is. However if he gets my genes he'll be asleep most of the day. As for holding we have a harness so that shouldn't be a problem.

He needs to show off all his saints gear. He has more tops than I do and i've had every home and away top for the last 15 years.

We've taken our little one since the age of 5 weeks. It's obviously dependent on weather conditions and how crowded a game is going to be ect. As you can see, little one slept the whole game (lets have no 'I'm not surprised watching cas' jokes

That's good to know. What time of year was that. Just thinking getting cold. However he does have the most amazing snowsuit from Gap that i'm quite jealous of as it looks well warm.

That was taken around beginning of march time. As you can see though it was quite sunny and warm. As long as he/she has vest, baby gro, snow suit, hat and mittens on he/she will be fine. Plus if your using a harness like above, your body heat will keep them warm too.

I took my daughter to the DW at approx 6 month and she enjoyed the experience, she did have a cry due to the noise, but I guess you wont have that problem

Please protect your baby's ears. Their hearing is incredibly sensitive and fragile at that age. It is possible to purchase baby sized ear defenders.

There's enough babies watch saints already.

Yeah I'm already on with that one. We were at a music festival last year and saw a baby no more than a couple of weeks old with ear defenders on. Don't want to damage his hearing early in life. That's his job in his teen years.

Tickets for under 5s are free,and you can get a free season ticket for them, I have one for my daughter.

It's a great idea. Didn't take my children when they were quite so young and they did eventually drift away from the game but have now returned. Bit like the Jesuits, give me the child until he's 7 and I will give you the adult but not as sinister.

I live in the USA and it seems the thing to do espescially the summer sports like baseball ,if the parents are big fans of A club they bring the baby to the game as soon as possible.I see it all the time on TV ,Although ive not seen it yet on HANDY WANDY NFL.

As long as you're not like the couple sat a couple of rows in front of me for the England Aus game at Wembley.

They brought a baby who couldn't have been any older than 4 weeks, who was clearly tired and wanting to sleep but was rudely woken every time the crowd cheered at a passage of play. Cue the parents scowling at the fans around them for making so much noise. Madness.

Personally, I've not taken my little lad to a game yet (he's almost 3) as I know he wouldn't enjoy it (he hasn't the attention span to stay in one place for a couple of hours) and therefore I wouldn't enjoy it either. The way I see it, I have years in front of me to enjoy taking him to watch Saints -no point forcing it sooner than either of us would appreciate.

We had a family like that infront of us a few times at Widnes.

I took my son to a Challenege cup game at Knowsley Road when he was about 8 months old, but other than that he has only been to watch a few amateur games. He is just turned two and loves watching games now and will happily sit at home watching the majority of a game. I have got him his free season ticket for next year to use when we play on a sunday/cup games etc but won't be in a rush to take him to evening games as evening games plus young child means grumpy and spoiling things for everyone!

Totally agree. Mine was 5 when he went to his first game, he is now 6 and he loves it. I will only take him to the Sunday or Sat games as 8pm Friday is way to late. If he gets tired he wont enjoy it, I wont enjoy it and that may spoil it for a long time. The first few times we went he wanted to go for a walk under the stands part way through, now he sits and watches, taking more notice than me at times. He will tell me things on the way home that I missed, It shocked me at first how much they take in.

Pity you were so young. I'd be interested in hearing about the first ever game at Central Park!
