| Does this mean the welsh expansion has just been totally binned.
How many does city take because you could argue that at a lower capacity ground the derbies would make more money just played at home grounds. City is not an expansion area so what would be the point?

manchester is a massive city and with all the sporting media moving there this is a fantastic oppitunity for the game to really push the game in manchester and get as much publicity as possible, people talk about expansion like wales and down south but for me the game needs to be stronger up here in the big citys like manchester, sheffield, liverpool aswell as expanding into new areas. the decision to move it to ethihad is a great move

| like airlie bird says, with media city in salford keys, this is a great idea. Plus its easy to get to for any fan along the M62 and for fans from further afield too

| Would be a good idea I think.
I remember being there when the criminals beat us witha breakaway Matt King try right at the end and thought it was a fantastic stadium which was pretty well filled with RL fans.
I think it looks good for a ground to be filled i.e not like last week at wembley.

| I like this idea. Cardiff and Edinburgh was too big a strain time wise and financially but there's a good day out to be had at the CoM and with the village that's being built up around there it could be a great long-term move. Let's face it the rah-rahs at the BBC love a decent -up and you can always get that at a RL event because it's party time all the time.

| I can see both sides of this.
On the plus side it's much cheaper to get to, but on the negative side I think most people will only go to their own team's game reducing the crowd overall. Nobody will stay over as they'll be able to get there and back easily in a day so the whole sort of Wembley weekend feel of it will be lost. And I don't think it'll bring RL to the non-believers of Britain because of the location. Not that I think it really did that anyway, but it was one of the reasons to take the whole thing on the road in the first place.

| As HP says I suspect fans will only go to their own game and not make a weekend of it. I would have loved the RFL to have taken the event to Newcastle, a good fun city with lots of accommodation and within reasonable distance for those who just want to do the day trip.

| I think we should also remember that Manchester is better than Cardiff, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Edinburgh may look nicer but it's still got plenty of la-di-dahs there too.

| I'm not against manchester. But again we try something for far too short a period.
MM no longer a big open to the season so does this mean we'll have the drab opening of previous years? PLayers on the thames etc.
Will the stadium be full? We may sell more tickets but will it be very ful as fans will be sorely tempted to turn up just for their game.
If it was a sevens or nines weekend like the RU do with quick fire matches then that might keep people there. I like the idea of a sevens comp with a sponsor carrying the name. Some prize money all live on free to air for one weekend. Would be wall to wall RL for a weekend which would catch new views much better than the CC.
Bit like 20/20 for cricket or the six nations for RU or wimbledon for tennis. Specifically wall to wall RU on mass audience TV.

| If Magic weekend is held in Manchester then I won't be going. Why would I want to go to Manchester to watch Saints AGAIN? It's enough that I have to watch them there every October, even if it IS a different stadium.
I liked Cardiff. I think Cardiff is the perfect venue for this event if it is going to continue. Instead of changing around again, the RFL should either bin the whole idea or provide discount ways of getting to Cardiff for fans throughout the country so as to encourage bigger crowds.

Cardiff is great (in fact the best stadium in the UK IMO) but not enough accommodation in the city area itself - lots of people stating in newport, bristol etc and even gloucester.
I've spoken to several people who couldn't afford cardiff / edinburgh / wembley etc but have said they would go to manchester.
Contrary to RG's opinion - when your ticket for the day (or weekend) gets you to see all the games, why would you not watch at least 2 of them? Why would it be any different from cardiff, where some watched all and some went in the pubs and then just went in to watch their own team?

People don't have to stay though, unless they're coming from the most distant places when the travelling could be unrealistic. I went for the day and watched all the matches. It was excellent value for money and a fantastic atmosphere.
