I don't see why Eastmond will be fullback however, Makinson would have been my choice as we need to replace Wello in the long term as well as the short. But Eastmond at fullback is better than Speedy Gonzales.

Royce likes to be consistent, so doubt he'll move Makinson although you never know. But Eastmond to FB maybe an option, or even possibly Lomax as has been said by some on here.

I can kind of see that as Royce will be looking to next year and one of Lomax and Gaskell will have to move for Lance, so Lomax to FB, may give us that 3rd half back option on the field as we don't have that anymore with Royce's ploy of a prop at Loose.

Makinson has shown some real promise with his pace and has played centre and full back before, so should have some skills in the middle of the park. I hope he gets the run out.

he's played there a bit, is safe under a bomb, is quick and a decent 1 on 1 tackler

Officially a centre but has covered fullback. When he covered there for us in one match Simmons later said, when choosing Ashe, that Ashe would have been chosen earlier had he (Ashe) not himself been injured, suggesting that Ashe would be above Makinson in the pecking order so far as fullback cover is concerned.

How pathetic! Paul Wellens has been a stalwart for the club and has helped Saints win on more than one occasion as indicated by the fact he has won every honour going

He has, and that's why many defend so vigourously.

His form has been up and down this year, but I felt he was settling into a decent rythm as the team got itself together post Quins defeat.

However, the last month or so he looks like he's really struggling. I reckon a couple of niggles are making it look worse, but, as Saddened says, in Wigan's heyday, even the best players would have the day when Auntie Mo would [iconvince[/i them it was time to move on. Unless a real upturn in form proves me wrong, I think that's what should really be happeneing come the end of this season.

Next year we have Hohaia coming, who in my opinion should be playing #1. We also have Mackinson and Ashe in reserve, as well as the possibility of Lomax ending up there. If we hold on to him for sentimental reasons, it will be to the detriment of the squad.

Taken out of context your honour. If you see my other posts on Wello, they are all very positive and constructive. I love the man to pieces and would have his children. I'd donate him a kidney if he needed one. I'd lend him my car or my wife anytime.

BUT, there comes a time in professional sport when the body betrays the man. And it's happening to Wello now and it's excrutiating to watch.
