Would be a good signing. Makes you wonder what Leeds are up to. They are obviously clearing the decks for something big.

It's a strange one. He's been Leeds best forward this season according to their fans, but was dropped about a month back and hasn't had a look in since. Their Chairman says its because of the outstanding form of the other players in that position, but Kylie L runs for 30m most weeks and looks to be in terrible form. The likes of Kirke and even Peacock haven't exactly been storming recently either, they've been totally dominated most weeks.

I'd say it's either because they want to sign someone for this season and need to clear cap room. Otherwise, why wouldn't they play him? if it was just form, they would just keep him as backup and rotate the squad.

NRL with his brothers

There's a slight inconsistency in the statements from Leeds. Hetherington says Burgess is leaving to have a crack at the NRL, and McDermott is saying he's leaving because he wants guaranteed 1st team rugby. Surely he can't be under the impression that he'll be guaranteed first team action in the NRL.

I think he's got a few too many errors in him, which may be what holds him back.
I'd get him in for a month while clough finishes his recovery.

If we could afford him for the rest of the year I think Burgess would be an excellent signing.

I cant say I remember seeing cross play but I'm surprised he's not ahead of crap like Ian Kirk or that Weller Hauraki (sp) bloke

Burgrss could be usefull but if he wants a guaranteed 1st team start wqe cant give him one,best we could do is a place on the bench for him.Not surprised they are letting Cross go the times ive seen him he has been awfull

Well, Perry is a biscuit, Cloughie is a few weeks away yet and Moore has disappeared, so we are without three grunt men. If Burgess could provide some grunt, even if he made errors sometimes, that would be better than over-using our remaining big men.

Man are we going to miss Jammer next season. He's the only reliable big man on the team.

But I agree, Jammers presence is going to be a big gap to plug and will take more than one man, even Laffranchi. Perry's been unlucky, I reckon. He's had some injuries, but got through that cracked knuckle without missing a game and was unlucky to cop a suspension for 1 game. I think he's been great when he's played, though.

Never really seen that much in Luke Burgess to be honest. He lives off Sam's name I think, yet he's nowhere near as good.

Griffin is miles better than Burgess. Burgess would be worth a punt as a try-it-and-see sort of signing, whereas Griffin would be a major signing in my book.

Burgess is much like Maurie

Good bit of grunt and the occasional go forward but frequently prone to brain farts.

I doubt he would leave Yorkshire too, he would fill a gap if only temporarily.

Lets be realistic if Leeds are letting him out on loan it will be to a team in the bottom group of the table.

So the idea is a non starter.

Leeds have given permission for Ben Cross to talk to other clubs too. Looks like they are having a clear out for a big front row signing.

I'm very disappointed about this because prior to Cross and Perry coming over here I was really looking forward to those two getting into it but they've been a right pair of pasties.

I'm not sure he'd be a major signing, but he's better than Burgess.

I have. For instance he scored a winner against us at KR a few season s back and that game we had with a bit of biff, when Maurie got concussed, Burgess really stepped up a gear when the going got tough.

But those big performances, combined with the fact he struggles to cement a place must mean there's some big holes in his game somewhere. I think I recall a Leeds fans critisising his defence in some way.
