| Having had a season like we have had I am very disappointed with our fans on this site. I can accept constructive critisism of players but what I ve read on here since Saturday is discraceful. Yes we all are disappointed to lose to Wigan and maybe we should have played better but eh someones got to lose and maybe we should give Wigan more credit rather than looking for scapegoats.
Lets face it we were always going to struggle once Leon cried off injured and then we all realised Kyle was never going to be 100% for the last 6 or 7 games.
However for me its been a good year
1) We could have won the Semi with a bit of luck with last minute injuries and dodgy refereeing costing us!
2) We did battle into 2nd despite all our injuries and eventually did made it to Ond Trafford ( something I though was pie in the sky half way through the season). Oh how the wire would have loved to be there.
3)We bloodied and developed some of our younger players many of whom are very promising and hopefully will kick on next year. We were forced into this after being decimated with key injuries for all of the season.
4)Players have had to cover and play all over the pitch in positions which were alien to them, Wilkin and Flannery probably suffering the most.
5)We have now started to see our new ground progressing and are looking forward to seeing the stands go up next year.
6)We finished of at KR in style with a memorable last league game against Cas, a great playoff game against the wire maintaining our SL unbeaton record and then finished off with the Giants and KC last score.
7) We continue to be one of the main sources in superleague and there is no doubt we will be there or thereabouts next season.
Yes its is disappointing to lose a final. I know i've seen a few especially in the 80 and early nineties and more recently the GF defeats. But we have all got to now stick together and support the team and I just don't see the point in slagging them off.
For me I'll always be a saint until I die! I just wonder if many of you can say the same?

| Reaching a final is my objective for Saints especially these past couple of years when the squad has been shifting away from its icon period to our homegrown period. Despite the result, we have performed very well this season, often against the judgement of our own fans (including me) and each player should be roundly applauded for taking us this far.

| Saintsam is spot-on in everything he says. I looked on this as a 'holding' season; one in which the club was in a transitional phase and was not looking for a great performance over the whole year; I thought finishing about fourth or fifth would be about as well as the lads could manage, with hopefully a decent run in the Challange Cup. What happened? Unlucky to lose in the semi-final of the Cup (and had we got to the final against the Wire.......), a second place finish and a Grand Final appearance! I would not have placed a bet on these eventualities at the start of the season with bad money! Given the circumstances, it has been a magnificent season and every player, especially the young ones, can be proud of their achievements. If we can achieve the same standard next year I will be delighted, but as long as there are no serious or long term injuries, I am not looking for too much till the next year, in our new home. The move to Widnes won't do the team any favours, but in 2012....... . Have a little patience and the top-line days will return. After all.....this is SAINTS - the entertainers!

| Come on SaintSam, some posters are just being Realistic, being a loyal fan does not mean you can't or are not allowed to offer criticism or at least constructive comments, unless you are one of the BigMac signed up loyal servants.

| semi in the cup, second in the league, grand final runner up.
an almost there season, better than many many seasons i've been through with the club.
I'm happy with our performance this season, its been enjoyable to me, and I think the lads should be happy with their season.

It's the grand final runner up bit which is the problem. We've been that for four years. So it is very difficult to see the season as a success because we failed - and failed miserably it has to be said - on the big stage. There is also the sense that we have lost the winning mentality that made us such a good club (and I said club, not team).
I'm happy with some of our performances this season but a number of them have just been the same as we saw on Saturday night, even with Pryce and/or Eastmond in the side. And defensively we have been poor throughout.
Personally I don't think there is anything wrong in deeply disappointed, upset and humiliated fans expressing themselves on a forum for fans. It's logical. It's just the passion of being a supporter.

Still makes some good points though

| I reckon this season 2010 has been better than last season 2009, we've been under more pressure this year with injuries and the battles with Leeds, Wigan, Warrington.
We put in some shocking performances last season, this season our losses have been by narrow margins with a few on controversial decisions.
Next season I would prefer a win in the Challenge Cup and perhaps a "gap year" away from the Grand Final. We seem to be "too familiar" with Old Trafford and mentally not 100% right for it.

| I agree with a lot of what has been said on here. I can fully understand why people are critical of things especially the game on Saturday. However, at the start of the season I said I would be happy with a top 3 finish and a place at at least one final. With the injuries we have had at points in the season I didn't think we stood much chance of managing that. But we did and as fantastic as a grand final win would have been we still managed to do very well considering how much we struggled at points in the season.

| Well said Barry.
I posted this a little earlier on Red Vee :
[i I clapped the lads off and disappeared just before they went up for the trophy couldnt bear to watch that.
Despite the hysteria I really do feel that we did well to make the final given the season long injury situation and the fact we had no first choice half backs and the team was lead around by a player who the club had already decided was not good enough to play for us.
I am every bit as disappointed as the next fan. Sure the team are too.
I think if we turn the clock back to pre season few of us expected to win a trophy and saw it as a transitional phase. In many respects we overachieved.[/i

Yes. The GF was an inevitable defeat that will do nothing for the team and it's support base.

| its not the fact that we have suffered four defeats in a row , Its the manner in which we were defeated that is hacking a lot of people off,We where like lambs to the slaughter on all but one occasion , so pull your neck in you lot and let the fans vent what they consider genuine negative observations with club and players! there was some poor efforts on Saturday.
