I read his book and it was excellent, much to my surprise

We've just been talking at home about this. How can Terry appear on a RL programme when he is still serving his ban from the game? I thought banned players couldn't have anything to do with RL while they were serving a ban. I know he may not come back into the game but he is still serving a ban.

Having enjoyed the Leigh-v-Sheffield game I won't be polluting my eyes with Newton's cheating ugly mug. I think it's bad form of Sky to include him in this. It's like saying being a cheat equates to superman status. What a message to give out.

That is exactly what my other half has just done and said. As soon as the game etc had finished he turned the TV station over. I'm not watching that crap (or words to that effect) How many have been on now with a 'murky' past. Surely we should be having players on like Joynty etc. People who were super- heroes of our game. They have recently been scraping the barrell.

I don't care. He is a cheat and has probably been cheating for the whole of his career. Who knows? Cheating does that. It creates suspicion. He's ugly as well. And he did serious damage to Longy when Longy was one of our heroes. So all in all I think Sky have outdone themselves on this occasion, making a total mockery of our sport.

Carney basically asked him the same questions over and over again.

Thats a rough idea of how the interview went, same questions over and over again, with the same response from Newton. Boring.

I wanted him to ask about when he took Long out and other incidents through-out his career but it was basically the same thing over and over again.

In his prelude to the interview Brian Carney said that he expected that many people would not be happy about about the interview with Terry Newton, and so it seems.

I quite enjoyed it, but I watched it as I did Longs, and that's probably the difference between you and I.
I would have liked Carney to dig into the Long incident at the JJB, but it was all about the drugs problem.

The programme was not about about making Newton a hero, it was about a man admitting the mistakes he has made. If you can't be bothered watching it then I don't know how you can comment.

His book is a very good read, you should give it a go although I suspect with your red vee specs that won't happen.

Me and my dad watched it as Rugby League fans, and before it came on we said this could be an interesting watch, expecting him to go over Newtons career, as well as obviously the drugs problem but they didn't. It was the same questions over and over again about the drugs, with more or less the exact same answers from Newton. It got pretty boring to be honest.

Fielden is on next week, that could also be interesting if they go into the Willie Mason incident.
