| Interesting one this. Huddersfield seem covered in the halves for me. They have Brown who is playing without doubt the best football of his career and Robinson, who their fans were telling us should play for England last season. They also have Greg McNally who was looking like the next big thing at half back about 12 months ago.
It seems Wakefield are selling him for a small fee to avoid losing him at the end of the season for nothing, thus giving them room to sign Cooke from Hull KR whilst also giving them the time they need to source a replacement for Brough.
Makes you wonder why it's the Giants though. Perhaps they are worried about a player's impending unavailability. Brough cannot be coming cheaply, Huddersfield are another team who are now bordering on the impossible when you look at the quality and depth of their squad.
I am pretty gutted Brough's not coming here. I much rather have 1 Eastmond 7 Brough than 1 Wellens 7 Eastmond for the next two or three years.

Robinson was quoted in the league express saying he'll fight for his place, but would be happy to play hooker as well

| So what happens to Lunt and Faiumu who are both better at hooker than Robinson would be. It's just too many pegs and too few holes for me and all of them are high quality players.

| I think the combination of Brown and Robinson is one that is holding Huddersfield back, Robinson is no better than average.
Them signing Brough before the end of the season may well give them that kick to be really challenging for honours.

| Faiumu and Drew will be gone at the end of the year ,leaving lunt and Robinson for the hooking role.

| Hasn't Robinson just signed an extension to his contract. Also there was talk of Brown wanting to emigrate to Australia. That partnership would be broken up if that was the case.

| Robinson is IMO a very ordinary scrum half.
Brown on the other hand is maturing into the talented stand off many people thought he would become when he first broke on the scene at Wigan.
Putting Brown and Brough together would be a very dangerous combo.
Have to say Hudds are building a very strong team and personally think they will become the new Kings of Yarkshire.
People have already mentioned their quality at hooker.
However they also have a very good young full back in Cudjoe, and their back row has real strike power with Wild and Gilmour in there.

Plus Fa'alogo and Kirmond (though he will not be back to his best until 2011).

When he has moved to 9 this year Robbo has been most effective and nathan brown will make him better.

report I read is that if Brough signs he will definatly move to 9 - Interesting points though made in this post - either you have quite a few quality players playing for peanuts or you lot must be coming pretty close to the cap .....

| personally I think that Huddersfield have cocked up a bit in this deal.
They have obviously been tapping up Brough for next year for when Faiumu / Drew leave. Wakey have found out and spotted an opportunity to get some cash out of them now, rather than report them to the RFL - leaving them free to sign Cooke now and get some cash in the bank for Brough.
I dont believe for a second that they would see the need to sign Brough for this season, considering the players the currently have and their league position to date.

Wakey have found out nothing. There are press reports from early 2009 of talks between the 2 clubs re Drew / Brough. Wakey have also made it clear that the approach was made through the club. This 'conspiracy theory' only has legs with a few slow wakey fans.

| Brough would have been a great signing for us, allowing Eastmond to move to full back, or Pryce out wide. Huddersfield will be better for his signing, it'll be interesting to see who loses their place for Brough.

in that case, Huddersfield must be anticipating losing the services of a halfback or hooker at some point in the next few months.

It is possible. However Faiumu has been excellent for us at 13.
