Picked up my 1890 shirt today.
I'm really impressed; the colours are as per the brochure which surprised me as I thought the brown and blue was a colour problem on the printing of the brochure and not the real colour.
However, it looks fine even if brown and blue sounds odd. the material is polyester type but actually feels high quality.
However, the shopping "experiance" was a nightmare.
1. I thought I'd order two; one for me and one as a present for Christmas. 1st problem is that there is NO phone no whatsoever on the wonderful new and improved shop website.
2. I rang the club in the end and was put through and I ordered and pre-paid over the phone. Receipt arrived a couple of days later saying shirts should be in today the 18th.
3. Was at a "do" last night in Manchester and thought I'd ring up to check whether they were in to avoid wasted journey as I live in Warrington for my sins, and was asked where I had ordered them from - ground or town centre shop? I said I didn't have a clue as I ordered them over the phone (they were not on the store website at that stage). Was told it would be the shop at the ground and that the shirts has arrived.
4. Arrived at the shop who had four people but only one actually serving. Eventually a lady served me who looked in various boxes asked me where I lived (?) and looked at my receipt and then said it was "till 4" so it was ordered at the town centre shop and I would have to drive there. As I didn't live in St Helens I didn't have a clue where it was but parked up near B&M asked around and found it.
5. Went in shop and the lady looks at the receipt and says; "no this was ordered at the ground not here" and words to the efeect I would have to go to the ground!
6. Was about to explode when another lady said she would call the shop at the ground on her own mobile. Lo and behold they wouldn't answer the phone. She ended up ringing her boss at the ground who walked to the shop and then admitted they did have my shirts.
7. This angel of a lady then makes the point that she thought they should give me the town centre shop's stock to avoid me having to go back. after some "animated" discussions with the KR shop they finally agreed to this; so my eternal thanks to her.
My overall impression is that the shop at KR is a shambles - I have been there a few times previous and find it very disorganised with staff who didn't seem to care. The town centre shop was not much better with the outstanding exception of the lady who took pity on me.
Sorry for the rant but it really is "p*ss poor" and I am left unsurprised that the club continues to lose money if the retailling is any reflection of how the club is run.
Come on Tony, sort it out!
I really hope they sort out and get it right when we move to the new ground.
