He does have a very valid point though, finish below half way and still get into the end of season mix. As for picking opposition etc its just becoming a farce
Personally I'd have 1st straight to the Grand Final and 2,3,4 & 5 playing off to meet them... that would put more emphasis on finishing top!

I dont agree with the new system, but at the same time, the more games the better.

It would be great if the Catalans or Castleford who scraped into the playoffs could win superleague and become champions........that would give the competition "real value".

Sounds like the Media have created a headline which are not Wilkins exact words, he only comments on the mediocrity of the play off with the 7th and 8th giving a chance to become champions.
Its all too gimmicky to me, the play off could mean we have to play Huddersfield twice isn,t once enough. There is also a scenario that Saints could could beat Huddersfield say 38 to 6, then Saints lose to Huddersfield with a controversial penalty say 14 to 12 and go through to the final, is this not a reward of mediocrity.
