Mick Potter has been named as coach of the month for June as we were the only team in SL to win all of our matches in the month. We all know what usually happens after they recieve this award - well it certainly happened on Friday night. Better to get it out of the way early in the month.

Actually, I rather wish he'd kept quiet about the referee in public. It didn't make him look so good to say that stuff. Slowing down at the PTB has been part and parcel of making our sport more boring all season. Why he had to comment about it on Friday I don't know. A tad embarrassing really. (Not the concerns but making the public comment)

I don't mind him bringing the play the ball problem out into the open like some other coaches, it makes you think, slowing the game down is a manipulation to try an even out the competition.
If it gets any slower its going to put me off watching games week in and week out and I'll probably choose just a handful of games.

The fast play the balls are killing the skill factor. All it encourages are Mickey Higham, James Roby scooters from dummy half.

The skilled, crafty hookers and half backs that can unlock defences are being killed.

I disagree, faster play the balls means the ball is getting to backs quicker which gives them that extra second to find a gap or create a skilful play.
If the play the balls get any slower, we can probably get away with a full set of forwards with 5 drives and a kick to the corner.

So how come with probably the best dummy half runner in Roby your wingers aren't scoring more tries?

Strange considering that Higham is only 17th on the list of runs from Dummy half, yet you feel the need to mention him in this area. He has scooted once less than Riddell, although that is in three less games, hardly OTT though.

That isn't Warrington's style of game, and he hasn't done it anywhere near as much as people would think.

Believe it or not - if winning the Coach of the Month award has any affect on performance it will be too negligable to notice.

Last year we had faster play the balls and our wingers especially Gardner were top of the try lists.
If it goes any slower it will be like a rugby union ruck, stand up version.

Oh, I agree about him raising the issue but it would have been better for him to just go to Cummings, perhaps with all the other coaches who feel the same way, and have a good session in private. To mention it in public just after we had been beaten following a pretty awful showing was embarrassing as it looked like sour grapes/throwing the toys out rather than a very good point which seriously needs to be made and quickly.

The only option is to go public and its been like that for the past 5 seasons, Millward raised the issue and Anderson tried to get more transparency between coaches and coaches (Cummings)
As far as I'm aware nothing changed and we've got more and more critical comment by coaches in the press, its seems there are only two choices bottle it up or be critical in the hope someone listens.
For me Cummings is a "black hole" lots of questions and comments go in but nothing comes out. Result, frustration amongst coaches and players.
