According to Flanno, they are ramping up to the end of the season now.

| I really don't like it when our players start saying stuff like that. I have memories of Grand Finals when they did exactly the same thing only to totally disappoint on the night. I do wish they would keep quiet, please.

| Who is this Chris Flannery of whom they speak? Is he one of our crop of up-and-coming youngsters?

He is a very average so called Aussie superstar who everyone defends because he's played in SOO. Wouldnt get a look in if he came from Thatto Heath.

He's 'solid'. He's played very, very well a few times today and once or twice has shown a Scully-esque swagger. But workrate seems to be his priority and he's often easy to miss in a game. He'll never, ever let us down though.

He's also an experienced head to slot in and help the younger players when the pressure is on.

Aye, the crocked Scully perhaps.

He would, he'd be the exact same solid first teamer man that he is now.

Personally, I'd prefer mercenary, lazy and ineffective.
How I wish we'd signed Matt King.

By naming someone worse doesnt suddenly mean Flannery becomes a good signing. Ordinary at best and however gash Matt King is doesnt change that.

Depends what you want out of an import.
In a side like Wigan or Wire, you need your imports to be the creme de la creme.
As Saints, we can take in a player like Flannery, have him do a job for us, but provide a lesson to our aspiring youth about hard work, graft and also work off the field.
Lego Head is a model professional. I am pleased he has been a part of the Saints fold the last couple of seasons, he may not have set the world alight like Lyon, but he has been a credit to the club.

He's also not in the same league as King or Barratt in terms of salaries. His injury before joining Saints forced him into the decision. It was this or a struggle in the NRL reserves for a while. It wasn't like we picked up out of pack of chasing clubs.

| He has been a good solid dependable signing that has filled a gap while some of our youngsters develop into first grade back row forwards.
He does a lot of the unheralded stuff such as tackling. The team miss his defensive organisation when he isnt in the team.
Offensively he isnt anything amazing, but he has a decent pair of hands when called upon, and always chips in with a few trys and breaks.

He also runs good lines and supports Long's kick throughs. Obviously he is a player with limitations, but what he can do he does well and makes few mistakes. Such players are essential to any club with championship aspirations.

He reminds me of Hooper but Hooper had a bit more about him in attack certainly and when you look back was very, very good for us.
Plus the opposition hated him which was great for us!

| nice little kick for Wilkin's try yesterday.
Agree with all the other comments - a solid dependable head with some good experience, who we miss when he doesnt play. Doesnt stand out as a creative attacking force, but doesnt make mistakes and is no doubt helping the next generation of back rowers to develop their games.

| Really pleased for him yesterday when he got his try.
He played really well again yesterday, good going forward, strong defence as always, and a great kick for Wilkin's try near the posts.

Well, I do wish they would all keep their mouths shut.
If Sunday's performance was an indication of this 'more to come' then I'd rather they leave it wherever it is at present! There were times when we were totally dire and the only reason we had chances to score some fabulous tries was that the Bulls were knackered at the end of each half and their scrambling defence was hopeless as a result. They were knackered by Faz, who did seem to have upped his intensity! Other than that I saw little difference from almost every other match.
Except for the indiscipline, which was very much up on previous matches. I don't want to see [ithat[/i kind of intensity in anymore games, thanks.
