| The price of Hotels in Newcastle is already way higher than than in most "standard" cities - what price will they charge if this event gets the nod.
On the other hand the stadium is almost as close to the city as it was in Cardiff - sounds an interesting prospect

| A better option than going all the way to Edinburgh.

| Better still base it in Manchester, Man. City's ground would be ok.
Then most fans wouldn't need to pay out for accomodation, even if you were doing both days.
The whole concept is a good idea, it gives all the fans a chance to support their club in a "big stadium" type event without having to wait for them to get to wembley or a grand final.
We just have to be realistic of how much spare money people have available for an event like this.

| If they feel the need to feck about like this, why not go the whole way and host it in Dubai or Majorca? It's clearly just there to enable the RFL to go on a bender on expenses, so we might as well make it fun for the few that bother going.

Most people would probably just go to their own teams game and then go home. It wouldn't open the game to a new audience as part of the idea is to do as if people living in Manchester wish to attend a Rugby game they have plenty of opportunities locally, including the grand final if they want a big game.
You also wouldn't get the same atmosphere and banter over the course of the weekend if it was held so locally.
That said I would be very happy to see the weekend moved away from Edinburgh, as much as I enjoyed most of the weekend it wasn't as good as Cardiff imo.

| I'd rather it were Birmingham. Both skid-marks on the underpants of society, s*** holes and have bloody stupid accents, but at least if it were Brum I could catch some z's somewhere for nowt.

And further more I doubt a Premiership club would want 7 matches on there pitch at a cruical part of the season! Not that it would effect City too much!

They could always play it on the Bank Holiday at the end of May if this is a problem

I thought you'd want it played somewhere near Holmfirth.
But Barcelona would be good, or Paris.
