Plenty of other supporters visit other club websites and voice opinions, it is you who always seems to come over as defensive, at the end of the day people are only stating their personal opinion! I was born in the town and still live here, so I feel I can voice my opinion, I visit no other club websites than Quins and St Helens.
I still stand firm that statements from the club should not be made making promises, like meetings or completion dates unless they are fact, and no I would put it in capitals! LOL

| I would`nt have to be "defensive" as you put it if people cut the club some slack i agree its frustrating that there isnt a stadium springing up from the site as we speak there is nothing anyone can do about that but trust the club, i am sure they are working as hard as they can to move things along after all it is their money , and KR is a huge drain on the finances of the club, so it is in the clubs interest to move things along, asap, the thing that frustrates me the most is the suggestion that the club are lying to the fans, to what end? do they think we are so stupid that eventually we will notice there isnt a stadium, ? i doubt it, some people sem to want to blow this up into a massive conspiricy of some kind , quite why i dont know.

I don't know about people wanting to blow it into a conspiracy, but it is undeniable that there have certainly been some communication 'issues' from the club.
Like you, I am willing to give the club the benefit of the doubt and assume that their hands are tied by legal constraints, other partners, etc. I also have no grasp of the complexities involved in such a difficult process, but I can fully understand the frustration of some supporters who are less patient.
We were given planning permission on 11th July 2008 ( 2 years ago on Sunday) - news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_l ... 501899.stm
Subsequently, there have been many projected dates, with some of these missing the mark by as much as 7 months - with no explanation or update from the club (e.g. www.sthelensstar.co.uk/news/4431 ... _December/)
There's also the stories that I can't find about season ticket events to choose seats at the new stadium, detailed CGI modelling of the stadium, etc. which hasn't materialised. Although I personally can appreciate that this delay is more than likely out of Saints' hands, I can also understand some fans mentality who will simply feel that Eamonn McManus's talk of an announcement this week (which now looks unlikely) is just the latest unfulfilled promise by a club that seems to pick and choose when, and what, it wants to communicate. I just hope that the club address this one instead of hoping we all just forget the chairman told us there would be a detailed announcement this week.

I Hope we all are Supporters! but that does not being Sheep just Believing anything we are told and it also means asking questions at times, that is being constructive, it is The Club that comes first before those who may run it.
I can assure you I do not have hi-cups, but if I did I would not hold my breath as is recommended, when it is anything about this build and an announcement this week! - LOL

We bought a barn behind our house to convert, it took over a year to get planning permission by which time we couldn't afford to do it so we sold it. That was 2 1/2 years ago and the new owners got permission to start work on the conversion last Friday. And that's just a building that's already there being turned into a house.

 First time for everything
In all seriousness I'm hoping this is a minor (and typical) Saints admin cock up and its just that the club double booked the media room for Friday
I do believe the contractor is in place I just hope work is not being held up by the problems with Langtree's Legal Beagles

| All those blithering on about 'why is there no announcement' will have absolutely no concept of the outlay Saints and their partners would have spent to get the scheme to this point.
As I have repeated here many times, procuring a construction contract is completely different to any thing else.

You make it sound as if Big Mac and his merry men are the only club ever to build a new stadium! - it's not about outlay we all understand that, it how unprofessional they are with the constant announcements they make!

If they make a hopeful announcement they are derided if it doesn't come off.
If they keep their mouths shut, they are derided for not saying anything.

One of your fans asked if it would be ready for July, I made a simple reply stating that I thought absolutely not. I was then asked why I had made such a statement by another St.Helens fan.
I then gave my reasons. Nothing negative about it(though a little leg pulling re the portaloos & deckchairs)
That you don't believe me or you're taking it as a personal snide against the fans or the St.Helens club isn't really my problem. I am just stating that your new stadium wont be ready for the paying public to watch St.Helens rugby league by July 2011...FACT

With the delay in signing the contract & the fact that the stadium is a 60 week build (as stated by the chairman), it looks increasingly likely that you could be spending the whole season in 2011 @ Widnes

some of us have been saying that for months.
it really won't matter, in fact, probably better all round, gives the club more time to get everything right instead of rushing into it.

not at all, just that most of the people who have any sense know that with the amount of money involved and the present climate and the building industry in general, decisions like this have to be made carefully, if things ain't right, then things ain't quite right.
Like I said, having been sat at UGB social club in 1999 when the first plans where announced, and sitting here now so close to the first sod being dug, a few months really doesn't make any difference to me.

Sadfish,
You don't do yourself any justice, everyone is having problems in this climate, but they don't go about making announcements about announcements over and over again and then nothing ever develops and they give weak excuses for not keeping to promises made to the loyal supporters you talk about in the UGB Club in 1999, sadly some of those in 99 will not have made it to now and by the time the ground is ready for opening.
But lets be positive, the media room does not seem to be double booked for this week, so we will know in the next few days who the contractor is, when work will start (though Big Mac said a week after the announcement) and then the actual planned ground opening date (what did Big Mac say again, quite different from the CEO?) we all hold our Breath, but don't too it for too long or we will be around for the Big Opening! LOL
