I gave you the reason. Last year your fans had a fight among themselves. The atmosphere was not nice when you arrived last year. That's why the police will have been out and why you will have been checked, kids and all (not all kids are angels you know). Our fans don't generally have fights. That's the difference. You stop having fights and creating bad atmospheres, the police won't check you. In a previous generation it was Warrington fans who created trouble and they got the attention. They no longer do cause trouble and so they don't. You don't cause trouble, you won't have the attention. But it will take a while.

Last night your fans were great. A few more seasons like that and everyone will have forgotten that they were ever a problem. And it doesn't matter whether it is a minority or not, in a stadium, especially one like Knowsley Road which is compact and people are not segregated, a minority can cause chaos and spoil things for a lot of people.

So a few fans fight amongst themselves and we have the worst reputation in SL? I admit we need to rid ourselves of these few idiots and far be it from me to defend any idiot who gives our club a bad name, but to read your comments you'd think there had been an allout riot last year, which from where I was stood there wasn't.

Staggered to hear that Dibble set up mobile metal detectors to check HKR fans getting off the coaches.
It is also the only home fixture where Mreseyside's finest send horses. God knows what that has cost the club.

The metal detectors are part of an anti knofe crime initiative.

They weren't targetting specific supporters, both sets of fans were going through.

They had one set up near the black bull for instance, I guess that one caught the majority of the saints fans.

They were also handing our fliers and putting them on car windscreens etc.

I didn't notice any metal detectors last night myself but then I get out of the car and walk straight to the ground coming in from Eccleston so I probably don't get to see much of the traditionally livelier spots.

Yep, thought there was a great crowd in last night - engage are giving the attendance at 11,830. Not bad going for sure in comparison to your Wire game the other week back.

Average attendance of 14,420 so far. No doubt that will nose dive when we play Salford, but it's nice to have for now.

If i'm truthful, i didn't think it was a great following from Hull KR. I thought there was plenty Saints fans though, so far so good.

Rovers brought 11000 last night, easy!!!!!

Nah - seriously. Rovers took abut 1500 to Saints last night. Brilliant atmosphere, and a quiet police presence.

Just an observation I made at the game though. In the stand where the bulk of the KR supporters where, there were a lot of St Helens fans, and most were children 8 - 15. Normally I would congratulate Saints for being able to attract such a young following, it's good for the game, but most of these fans where just stood in circles laughing and talking. A lot of them even had their backs to the game! A Saints fan infront of me even turned round and said (after one boy and another boy where rolling down the steps "playfighting"icon_wink.gif, do you get all this foolishness at your home matches? Atleast 500 of these fans where kids just sitting down, laughing, joking, talking, texting... but not watching.

Still Saints have a great home support, and I was pleased there was no fighting, or thousands of police. I can't comment on this metal detectors as I didn't see any or hear any fans complain about them.

Still 3 times as many as Saints bring to Craven Park...

I wouldn't call them fans, just locals who are sad enough to pay £18 to do something they can do at home...

Keeps them off the streets for two hours and puts a few thousand into Saints coffers. We'll put up with them for that reason alone, as annoying as they are.

They could be doing worse things like drinking on street corners and intimidating people.
