I'm guessing he means a theoretical Sunday which, for all intents and purposes, yesterday was.

| Quote ="gateaux"Why when the game was on a monday
This argument comes up regulary but if the club thought that they would get better attendances on a Sunday then surely they would play the games on a sunday. All of our home attendances so far this season (I think) have been up on their corresponding fixtures last season so the attendances are heading in the right direction and not being overly effected by fridays it would seem.'"
Doh!
It felt like bloody Sunday, and today is Monday
You know what I meant, stop being funny, they also are cross referencing figures from Friday matches last year to Friday matches this year.
I rather games on Fridays don't get me wrong, but looking at the attendance of Hull (who don't bring that many on a Friday game, which is understandable) there has to be a question if a Sunday would be better for some games.

I think there is an argument for game against teams such as Hull to be on a sunday tbh, but the main problem would be that if sky wanted the game to be shown they would move it anyway and I think having a pretty much regular day and time for all home games is a better idea.
Interestingly so far this season (according to a post on the hull board this morning) Hull FC, Leeds, Wigan and Saints have had the highest average attendances - all of who play primarily on a friday.

| Your fans do get some stick for not turning up despite your success but that was probably the most Saints fans I have seen at a home game against us.
Also if I was a Saints fan I would get annoyed at the fact your local police force are ripping off your club everytime we come to KR. This is the 8th season in a row that I have come to watch us play at your ground and not once have I ever seen trouble that would constitute that large a presence. Last season we even had a police escort out of St Helens! It's only been happening the past 3 seasons though, before that there was only a small presence. There were about 10 times more police at the game on Monday than the Hull derby game on Friday, in fact I didnt not see one police horse at our derby game on Friday

They get stick from the Saints fans who [ido[/i turn up as well! But we seem to have been doing better this season, probably it being a new coach and we have youngsters coming through, etc. It's certainly not the facilities, that's for sure!

They've turned up for Hull KR, Wire and Leeds this season too. My guess is it is to do with numbers and probably the local residents having a moan.

I don't think the numbers have varied for our games tbh, they seem to stick around the same figure. If the local residents are moaning then they should foot the larger bill seeing as its obvious that amount of police is not needed

I think this "reputation" is a bit OTT, never had any problems with Hull fans, home and away and neutral grounds, in fact there is a mutual respect between each set of fans. Semi final of the challenge cup at huddersfield a typical example.
I know there has been bother between Hull and Leeds and Saints and Leeds but we have a common denominator here.

Unfortuately for the majority of hull/kr fans there does seem to be a minority of idiots who go for trouble, coaches regulary get attacked, it was only this seasons home match with kr that a coach window was put through by kr fans on a kr coach as well!!!???

Of the two I would say HKR fans have the most idiots. Not been to HKR for donkeys years ever since the verbal racist abuse of Sonny Nickle and Tony Sullivan seasons back. Think it was Sullivan who had the bananas thrown onto the pitch at craven park. Never been back there since.

Judging by the footage on TV and personal experience I'd be more worried about the police than Hull FC fans these days!
The police are a much more violent set of individuals.

| Anyone got any theories about WHY the attendances are up this year? What's different than last year or the year before for that matter. If anything I would have guessed they would have gone down with money being tighter etc.
Is it the youngsters making games more interesting? Or people realising the old ground wont be there much longer and wanting to 'relish' it before it goes? Or is it just better marketing? I know the season ticket sales were up before the season even started. Or is it just a fluke of fixtures so far?
There must be something in the air this year. What do people think?

Good marketing
Budgeting that kids shirt sell most and offering season tickets with them provides more bums on seats or feet on terraces.
Thats my opinion anyways
