Maybe wello's time is up but he did ok tonight. He saved some tries off Warrington kicks and put his body on the line.

Wello is great in defence, great under the high ball, reads the game well and puts his body on the line but he is very poor on kick returns and his attack ain't there anymore.

Thats a fair point on Eastmond, as an individual performance he was quiet but not awful, all HBs have quiet games, the difference being that the off-the-ball organising, moving the team around through the forwards and building the drive and ideas that all top HBs provide was absolutly absent.

This can't be put down to individual performance, he may be 21 but hes an international at the end of the day, it has to be down to a lack of interest, a division of attention, something that ain't right in his head.

I'm not - I went and as a season ticket holder I;ll be there all season but I know plenty fans who used to go all the time who just dont want to go to widnes. tbh i cant say I like it much but its only a year ...

It's tough for the saints fans who work late to get to Widnes. I know few lads who used to go straight from work but it's hard now as it's in Widnes.

dont know why any of you are complaining about your attack yh it wasnt amazin but our defense all but the last 6 minutes was top class and you couldnt get across the line because of it. dont bash yourselves just yet i think we just had the game we have been waiting for and you couldnt do anything about it. everyone has a bad game

I agree on Wellens. For the past three years a few of us have been warning about the aging process and it has caught up with him. Yes he's still strong in the tackle but he is beyond average pace now and poses zero threat returning the ball. In the past he would usually beat the first tackler but because he is so slow now he is getting tackled quite easily. In the modern game we need a speedy guy at full back. It's too late for us to do something about it this year but we cannot afford to be in the same position next season.

We would have been humiliated if it hadn't been for Wellens last night. He was sometimes our only goal line defence. Had our team put pressure on their kickers or even run lines or played dummy runners or something, Wello would not have had such a torrid time as he did last night. I'm very glad he was there.

I definitely see where you're coming from on this. Look how much of a difference Sam Tomkins has made to Wigan playing in that position.

We did exactly the same thing with Veivers where we stuck with him for too long at full back. It wasn't until David Lyon (the real one) joined us that we moved forward in that area. Break the bank for Billy Slater next year!

I think the issue with Wello would be what we'd do with him if he wasnt in the team at FB .. he's not as versatile as Vievers was imo and in the age of the Salary cap for me if he isnt good enough to be first choice we should doing what Salford did with Alker and either be moving him onto the staff or letting him go ...

The problem with Wellens is as soon as the kick goes behind him, he's very ineffective. By the time he has retrieved the ball, the chase isn't far away, and the chase need only be 2 defenders because Wello doesn't have the pace to get around them. This means we're starting every set 10-15 metres further back than our opposition.

jamie b grow a pair and get behind your team if been there when wire were getting battered and wigan fans stayed loyal and still turned out when they were struggling get behind the team and stop moaning

I am behind the team, just moaning about the way we've played, iv been watching Saints on the end of some bad defeats but against Warrington was terrible but I still think we will improve so I think you will find that I'm
fully behind the Saints as have been for years just stating hat it was a very bad performance and hope we can improve from it

Then say that, don't start claiming that after 3 games into the season that we aren't going to be in the hunt, as past seasons have proved nothing is won or lost in the first few weeks of the season.

I honestly despair at some of our fans at times.
