The chants aimed at Jammer were not unexpected. He said himself in the press he was expecting it and it doesn't bother him. It probably fires him up even more. What is annoying however is that when Saints are on TV at a home match we get called by many clubs for chanting at the ref etc. Yet tonight once again and at the Wire match last week their respective fans are equally as bad.

I bet after Cas were fined he was sat with his ear to the TV speaker tonight because Leeds were on listening for the 1st sign of abusive chanting. At that point he started his stopwatch.
I agree the cheering of injured players is not on but it was not everyone who joined in. Indeed when Eastmond regained his feet there was a lot of applause from the southstand.

I had to leave the area early after the chants of golly and c**n aimed at the Leeds player in front of us, made me want to hit someone.

Yes, as a Leeds fan, I was appalled by that. I dislike both players intensely, but that was well out of order.

I don't think anyone (Gaslight included) is suggesting that the homophobic abuse aimed at Gareth Thomas at Wheldon Road was acceptable.
However, the charges levelled were that the club (Castleford) failed to take steps to prevent the chanting, and that when it did occur the club did nothing to try and stop it. The fact that the abusive chanting was regarding a player's sexuality was irrelevant. In this case, there is an argument that the chanting directed towards James Graham (regardless of it's basis) is also in breach of the RFL's 'Respect' policy (as is the abuse of the referee) and therefore equally as detrimental to the game. Castleford were fined for failing to take appropriate steps to prevent abusive chanting and the failing to take adequate steps to stop it when it occured. Therefore, it should be expected that Leeds Rhinos take steps to prevent abusive chanting before the game, and then make public announcements when the abusive chanting of James Graham began. As far as I can tell, neither of these things happened and therefore the same procedures should apply.

What Gaslight conveniently fails to mention is the fact that Cas were already subject of a suspended fine following the incidents at the Catalans game at the Jungle last season. this will have been taken into account by the RFL.

but nothing was done the same season when Leeds came to town and did exactly the same thing at the railway end of the ground..
