Long was one of our better players. He may not have been spectacular, but he tried hard and looked dangerous at times, and was at least trying to create things.

Of course having no props is a problem but it simply highlights your lack of strength in depth in the front row.

Hull KR missed our best prop and captain for half a season; a best young prop lovegrove for almost half a season, Aizue for a sustained period etc. etc.

As for taking an even money bet, I've had plenty of success exploiting the thick RL bookies betting against your team so I'll continue to put my money where it will generate a best return on investment.

Look, Saints have been a great side but the dynamics of SL has changed and the harsh reality is that Saints now look like a team of flat-track bullies who are found wanting in high intensity games.

Saints are in a great position too. We might not be playing well, but we've a few troops to come back so hopefully we'll improve as the team plays together a little more.

I've also stated my doubts about us winning or even reaching the Grand Final and I've made a point about the lack of pace in our side, so none of this comes as a shock to me.

Not making the cup final is the best chance of us having a successful run in the play offs. For Leeds we should have Cayless, Fa'asavalu, Hargreaves, Wheeler, Eastmond and Dixon back. The likes of Graham, Wilkin, Wello and Gidley look desperate for a rest as well.

I think a week off will do Saints the world of good.
