Your having a girraffe on Smith and Wellens. Even this season when Wellens is not up to standard he has nearly twice the yardage, twice the tackles and twice the no of tries scored than Lee Smith. Check the stats, Smith is not as good as you think...no wonder he's off to Union.

Smiths been in and out of the team and when he's in he's been played at right centre. Smith isn't a centre.

He's easily a better fullback than wellens. He's faster than wellens, more creative with ball in hand, just as good defensivly and....he can kick!

I don't give a f*ck about stats. I judge by watching players. Smith returns the ball with more interest, he dominated the collision more than wellens who ambles in, he can beat defenders with pace etc.

Oh and good job on comparing stats of players playing in different positions.

Played 3 games less than Wellens, I thought the game was all about tackles, making yards and scoring trys. If not then yes Smith is far superior than Wellens on the basis of Smith looks better.

Also how can he be a better full back when you say Smith plays at centre.

Smith's best position is fullback, when he plays there he's better than wellens, he's been played out of position at right centre.

Had he been brought on earlier then he could perhaps have grabbed a couple for us. Alternatively, another of our young guys who had his debut against Salford (poor soul) can also kick. He wasn't even named in the 19. Potter's decision made a fool out of Wellens tonight and I feel really sorry for Wello.

Wellens had a nightmare last night, and has lost a fair bit of what he brought to the game, but in his pomp he would have walked into any RL team.

I'm struggling to think of a time when he'd have got a game in any NRL side.
