Quote ="Blobbynator"Great pictures and a different o the others with them being close ups inside the ground.
Question - That surely cannot be the final look at the bottom with the wall? It's steeper than a mountain!

If you look on the plans there are steps up to the stand either side of the vomitories and there are disabled places in front of that wall. It is going to need some form or barrier though otherwise there could be comedy carnage moments.

| Some pics i took yesterday.
Pics of the south east corner now filled in and receiving its outer cladding
A large amount of the road at the side of the south stand has also been dug up, this should make for a nice pedestrian boulevard.
The rather fancy guttering has also now been fitted to the majority of the West stand and is starting to be fitted to the North stand. This pic shows the South West corner
I spotted this in the south East corner and thought it might have been a camera, but on closer inspection it looks like a winch
East stand view, you can see the two central toilet blocks with bar areas either side
Just in case you cant see this clearly. Here is a close up showing toilet block on the left and Bar on the right.
a drainpipe from the roof goes into the toilet block, so it looks like they may be planning to store rain water in tanks above the toilets, and then use this water when flushing the loos
side on view of the east stand. You can clearly see one bar to the right, However another bar has yet to be built which is on the far right. There should be three bars behind the east stand.
The lush looking grass pitch. Note also the re-bar and plastic groundsheet, which looks like they are about to start work on concreting the pedestrian walkways in front of the stands.
The glass is now fully fitted in the studio. You can also get a sense of scale of the camera positions by the size of the workmen. Note also that on the roof are grey speakers which point downwards and black lights which point to the back wall of the stand.
moving onto the North "family stand" we can see two bar areas being constructed either side of two toilet blocks. This is just for the North East corner. More bars and toilets are in the North West corner. Looks like plenty of places to get food and drink, and have a jimmy riddle.
framework is also going up on the North stand for the outer cladding. A lift shaft is also being built to transport wheelchair people to their positions.
Moving onto the West stand
You can see the height of the perimeter blockwork. Also you may also note a ventilation vent within the brickwork , above the red skip, to help let fresh air into the toilets.
On the edge of the roof of the west stand i also spotted a Spy camera to keep an eye on the "ultras"
You may also note that to the left of the speakers are Lights. These lights dont point straight down, instead they point horizontally towards the back of the stand.
view of the corner of West and North stand showing the roofline with guttering installed
What looks like landscaping going on between the stadium and Tesco's

| Thanks for those pics. It is getting to the really exciting time now. This time last year we were wondering when it was all going to begin and now we are on the last leg almost.

| I heard they are going to stop building now we've got a licence. Pick it up and paint some yellow on the terraces for the next round of applications.

| One thing no one has commented upon, and its something i find quite unusual re a stadium of this size, and that is that the roof actually juts out beyond the edge of the terracing.
This should ensure that even those on the front rows have a reasonable chance of staying dry when its raining.
You may even stand a chance of staying dry when walking along the concourse in front of the stands

| The roofs are deep, aren't they? Not sure they are quite as deep on the North and South Stands, but certainly in the West and East they are. It will also probably have the effect of creating more atmosphere, containing the noise better.

| It looks faboulous, doesn't it. I can't wait to get in there.
I went to the trafford centre this weekend and got a good veiw of the new Salford community stadium from the bridge. That also seems to be coming along well, although they haven't got their grass growing yet.
Happy days.

Apologies if I've missed this, but are they going to be building another couple steps of terracing down to ground level or will it be that raised?
Couple of reasons I ask. Firstly, they haven't put barriers at the front, as though they perhaps haven't finished building this bit yet, they haven't built the steps required to get into the terracing, and also it looks like they may have left a wide channel from the edge of the pitch to where they have built to allow for plant access.
If it is staying like that, there looks to be a huge distance from the terracing to the edge of the pitch, or is that an illusion created by the pics?
Either way, it looks awesome!

It will be raised but there will be steps down either side of the exits to gain access to the seats/terracing. It is raised to allow room for disabled/wheelchair seeting at the front of each stand.
The concourse will be cemented certainly the yellow sheet area will be and then I think they will have an "advertising" barrier between stands and pitch area

Cheers, will the grass area be extended (ie the 2m runoff area added) or is the pitch really that far from the terracing? Or does it just look worse on the photos?

I think it looks fine, great for getting out afterwards, plenty of room soon dissapears when 4,000 people are all leaving at once, Wigan of course don't need so much room as people start to leave 20 mins before the end so their concourses are much narrower

Maybe it won't look as big a space when the concourse is concreted and the barriers and steps put in. At the moment it looks a large space to me - if you look at the workman on the pitch, he is probably 2m in, which is probably where the touchline would need to be, and that seems a good distance from the fans.
I like it when the stands are right up close to the pitch, as I say maybe it's just the picture.

| What does it matter how big the steps are in front of the pitch? You won't be allowed to exit there anyway will you?
Does anyone have any information about the important stuff, like how big the bar/food areas within the ground are and whether there will be terrible queues at said vending points? Also, are the toilets big enough to ensure I don't have to queue?

Fair enough then. As I said earlier, I like it when the fans are close to the pitch, feel it really improves the atmosphere and it just looks a decent distance. If it's comparable to other similar grounds though then it'll be brilliant.

| Looks to be about 7 metres wide (As you say no diff to warry's) and if it's not going to have anything else then at least those in the front seats wont have their view impeded by fans milling around getting beer throughout the match (Or stewards in the way for that matter). We had this problem at Harelquins as the very front seats are so low down compared to the concourse area our view was obstructed throughout the game

But how would you print screen it whilst displaying your back side to the camera? It would have to be a 2 man effort.

| One thing I do like is that fact that the roof is on top of the terracing not 30 feet above it like at the HJ. I'm sure the roof being deep and closer to the terracing will make the noise carry better to the pitch.
